What do you mean they aren't?

In the last 10 years we have bought numerous strikers for over £10m. Pretty much all of them have failed to make an impact.

Buying the right player at our level isn't easy and we need to scout the right guy, at the right time and beat any competitors to the signing.

Much more to it than simply getting the cheque book out or selling a squad player to fund it.

But you would assume they have already done this. There's a whole team of them with nothing else since September to do bar find the right striker. They may have found that and we now need the funds to buy?

You think the only reason we hacven't bought a striker is because we haven't sold Townsend? Seriously?

I think there's a good chance yea. Our last 15 or so transfer windows have been zero net spend. We are at net spend now. Levy wants other players off the books before he buys

I'll miss him but I think now it's got to happen. He doesn't even make the bench these days and clearly he has the ability to play somewhere in the premier league. I'm always sad when a youth team player fails to establish himself in the first team, especially after getting so close. We still need a new striker and I hope we get a decent price for Townsend although I suspect it's now half what it could've been a few years ago.

Townsend has 10 caps for England and is in his early 20s. And he has pace. Players with that kind of CV are routinely overvalued in this country.

That is true but it sounds very much like we were in for Berahino in addition to our net no spend policy this summer. I think we will invest but only if the player is believed in by MoPo and his team.
