Does it feel weird Caulker or Livermore playing for other clubs? It's part of the academy's job to generate revenue, by producing players who may not be good enough for us, but will have good pro careers.

It actually does always feel weird seeing Caulker and Livermore. I was hoping for Caulker to net against Norwich this past weekend and I absolutely hate pool.

Good luck to him. Shame he never lived up to the promise, I remember seeing him as a kid in some of the Europa League games a few years back and thought he would be the next best thing. I think in a team like ours he will always look average and wasteful, whereas in Newcastle he'll be a key part and I think he'll do well there.

He has played 64 minutes in the league this season, and not completed a PL game in two years. We will not miss him on the field.

Good luck Andros. I never thought he'd make it at Spurs but then I thought Kane was too slow to make it at the top level :(

You're so right, I can't think of a single occasion this season where I've thought to myself we need to bring on / start Townsend. I, like so many others had high hopes for the lad but unfortunately for whatever reason he just never kicked on. Maybe it was the ankle injury which lost him a yard of pace but one thing is for sure he frustrates the life out of me because he does possess all the right attributes but just seems incapable of knowing how and more importantly when to use them.

Is Oberton still at Newcastle BTW? Those two are like brothers from another mother in looks and footballing ability.

I don't think 64 mins in the league is 'giving him a go' he was never given a chance after his last injury on England duty 2 years ago.

I saw it as subtle criticism of the way he feels he has been treated - i.e. that he has (been made to? had to?) train with the U21s

Either way, it's sad that he as a Spurs fan who has certainly shown what he can be capable of didn't quite make it under Pochettino. He's clearly talented but lacked what is clearly Pochettino's idea of a forward player - perhaps the skills were there but he lacked a sharp footballing brain?

Exactly this.

He'll be extremely lucky to get into the squad.
If he has a good end to the season he's likely to be fast tracked in to the England squad because he's performed well for Hodgson in the past, in my opinion only of course

If you can't do what you are asked/told in training why would you get a chance on match day?

All players find their level, it's telling he's moved to a club in the relegation zone. I wish him well but he's not very good.

Why would you say that? I don't buy that narrative at all. I seem to remember the voices in your head saying it was 100% certain a while ago he was going to Sunderland.

Maybe if he had a manager who used wingers correctly then he would have half a chance? Seemed to work for the England manager.

I never thought he was going to make it under Pochettino, in fact I never thought he was good enough to play regularly for us regardless - a bench option at best.

But the point is his way of playing doesn't fit with what Poch wants - and he gave him plenty of chances to try and adapt. Look at the minutes Poch gave him in second half of last season, loads. But he simply wouldn't adapt and develop his game in the way Poch was demanding - I'd imagine.

Its absolutely the right move to sell him on now before his value plummets because he's not going to even get minutes in the Cups if he stays.

Great that he's Spurs and he doesn't deserve to get slagged off, but best for all parties that he moves on.

He'll probably do all right at Newcastle as well, its a good move for him.

Strikes the ball well with both feet, I'll give him that, but generally a very average footballer indeed with a poor first touch and zero football intelligence.

Will probably do ok in a side that plays traditional wide men. We don't though and if we did we would have been better off keeping Lennon who is twice the player Townsend is.

Good luck to him and hope he does well, but he's simply not good enough for us and hopefully we can use the extra funds to make a decent offer for a striker.
