Yes he was bad last night but he wasn't actually fit. Didn't he miss the WC with an injury and that's the first competitive game he has played?

I'm not his biggest fan and would not be upset if we sold and replaced him but lets add some facts to the situation.
Paulinho too wont be fit either.

Was the anniversary of Andros' brothers death last night. Wonder if that was one of the reasons he was trying too hard and seemed so relieved after the penalty. I know his selfishness is a general problem but I would guess it would have some impact

I suppose that would have some form of impact, in which case I'm even happier he scored his penalty despite my fears. I like how Andros is a player who isn't afraid to give it a go but as a general point I think he does it too much!

I never knew about that until your post, just reading up on it there.

I'm a bit baffled why people are on the back of a young player who just played his first full 90 minutes of the year and who stepped up and coolly put a penalty away while being barracked. More than baffling in fact, shocking.

We have better player's and he knows it.
He played the first game against this lot and did the same.
Itk suggesting he doesn't do instructions.
How many team performances can you remember for Spurs?
Time to cash in.

It was only because his dad was tweeting about it that I read about it yesterday. Like I said - it may have had no impact at all as it was a typical Andros performance but who knows

I have a theory that things may have moved on with this, it may be nothing but coincidence however..

Firstly we have the omission of Andros from the QPR squad on Sunday which to say the least was a little surprising. There then followed the unearthing of a tweet from Andros's Dad:

Troy Townsend‏@Towno10 Aug 24
Everything is perfectly clear now!!!

We then have this update from JJ a few days after:

The original JJetset‏@jetsetyid Protected Tweets Aug 27
one or 2 things may happen yet(outs and ins) Over next day things should be clearer. Some things are near but not near enough to discuss.

And then this morning we had a tweeter asking JJ:

Strobedj ‏@strobedeejay 4h
@jetsetyid @J_Wallace_84 hope things are 'clearer' today!

To which JJ replies:

The original JJetset‏@jetsetyid Protected Tweets 4h
@strobedeejay @J_Wallace_84 things are clear but someone else can do the updates not me ;0)

This last tweet I believe alludes to Andros's Dad original tweet.

That cleared things up.

Do you wear a tin foil hat by any chance?

Southampton ITK suggesting that Townsend is still their first choice, with Nathan Redmond as the back-up.

Guan (Saints ITK): I don't think saints would ever deliberately wait until the final day, but events may conspire to force that situation. And I still am banking on one player only coming in.

Bewildered: Any names? Redmond? Brek Shea?

Guan (Saints ITK): I've heard Redmond, Brek Shea is a new one to me. Will check though.

Saint Rees:
As in that's who our main target is now or just one of the names mentioned? And as for Shea, I bloody hope not! Thanks for the info by the way.

Guan (Saints ITK):He was one of the names mentioned as back-up to Townsend (what a pair of heroes btw

Guan is their top ITK over there - certainly by far the most respected.

If he's saying Townsend is there number one target then we're obviously going to expect MS.

I like the bit were he says...'events may conspire against us'...in terms of waiting to the last day.

Events being us.

Did anyone else watch last night and see how many times Townsend ran into dead ends, gave the ball away and chose the wrong option. I want an upgrade please.

I quite like what you did there but I personally don't think JJ would be tweeting so much about the departure of Townsend. It's not a massive thing, unless MS comes the other way of course. I just think that he is speaking generally and that he is genuinely saying in the next day or whenever we will have a better indication of what's to come

Townsend has played just about as much as any of our other players. He played the entirety of the pre-season. Was subbed on against West-Ham and played in the first leg against Limassoll, but was subbed off because he actually played worse than he did in this game.

If he's not match fit no one else on our squad is either.
