Just blowing cash for the sake of it. No way will they be able to keep up this level of spending for an ultimately unsustainable business, as they haven't got RA level wealth. It's all gonna come crashing down at some point in the next few years.
God I hope so. With a smaller older ground too.

Inevitably?

I been hearing Chelsea is going tits up for the past 20 years
Who from? I've not heard that since they went tits up 20 years ago and sold out to the Russian. Since then I've never heard anyone say it because he'd just keep pumping money in.
I very much doubt they'll go tits up now but to avoid it they'll have to start turning a proper profit which will constrict their spending.
I personally think what we're seeing is desperation.
If Everton sell Gordon we'll know they're desperate on their finances and if Chelsea pay The figures that are being banded about they're obviously just desperate.

I know they’re overpaying but Gordon is very talented. Dissapointing to see Chelsea bring in more quality. I really feel unless we bring in two top players our window will stand comparatively underwhelming.
He is talented and I'd be gutted for Everton but we've brought in at least three top players to top Gordon already so it can't be called underwhelming.

Does anyone really believe that the powers in charge will pursue the likes of chelsea with regards to breaches in FFP? Think they set the bar when they clearly key City off the hook.

Yes but can Chelsea afford to spend like early Abramovich under their current owner?

God, there’s a lot of bitter fans on this thread.

If Gordon goes to Chelsea it’s because he thinks it’s best for him. If Chelsea pay £60m it’s because they think he’s worth it. It scuppers out chances, but hey, thems the breaks.

if we can't get Gordon and he goes to Chelsea they have some real options for wide players that would suit us Pulisic Ziyech or Hudson Odoi all would be good signings and improve our options out wide if that's what we are looking for
Yep Ziyech or Pulisic with confidence and game time would both be brilliant but no chance they sell either of those to us.

But right now they have no need for Gordon at all, very strange move.

This just makes what we spend on Kulusevski even more incredible at just 1 year older

Doesn't matter as long as he does the business for them and they can afford it

It's like being jealous of the bloke dining at salt bar while you are doing takeaways at the local chips shop

Not sure I agree that Gordon is what they should spend 60m on though, but that’s not my problem.

Yes 100%. The powers in charge gave them a transfer ban for breaching rules regarding player trading youth players, so I very much believe they will do the same for breaking FFP rules(should they do it). I keep reading posts saying clubs are breaking FFP regs but they aren't. In the early days City looked for loophole after loophole, but as the restrictions tightened up that has stopped. Newcastle the same.... All the money in the world but have to be careful how they spend it because of future implications. Chelsea and Arsenal are basically maxing out their credit cards now, and are playing a pretty risky hand of making CL next season or they could face a Summer of having to sell in order to buy anyone just like Everton and Leicester have this year.

But what’s wrong with that? Barkley is an international player with winners medals and a fat ass bank account.
Didn’t say there was anything wrong with that. Depends on what you want though. Play loads, contribute and develop yourself as a player or play the occasional league cup game, pick up a winners medal (that you’ve not really earned) and get paid loads. Personally I’d rather play. Others might just want the cash.
