If I want immediate impact I throw Barca £20m for PEA as they need an out and out striker as demonstrated when we played them, they don’t need Gordon now or as an investment.
The lad has been super hyped up and if they think he’s worth £50m plus add ons then more the fools them.

Struggling to see why this is getting a disagree. The vast majority of American owners have been terrible for their clubs. Fenway at Liverpool are probably the only exception.

What a weird generalization. In the Chelsea case, give the guy a min to find his feet. As for other US owners in the PL, who are you referring to? The Glazers? Look at how much money they have spent. Not their fault some managers havent replicated Fergie’s feats. Arse have also spent a ton.

outside of the UK, you have US owners in the states who are outright brilliant. Take 5 mins to read about Adrian Hanauer. Perhaps that may shift your thinking.

Sorry, but as a Yank, who was raised in the UK, and now resides on the west coast in the US, I just find comments like this to be utterly without factual basis and are founded in bias. And frankly makes the OP come across as piously judgmental.
Randy Lerner, Ellis short, Glazers, Kronke and probably plenty more im missing. Fenway is the only success story and it was going terribly until they struck gold with a fantastic manager who for whatever reason loves being an underdog. All of them find clubs at a certain place and leave them far worse of. Spending money and not knowing what you're doing with the money is no better than having money at all.

21 year old, English, hometown boy, one of their better players with 3 years left on his contract. He's going to cost a fair amount.

I think he has a bit of skill, pace and work-rate but I don't see a player who's likely to develop into a top level player. But of course, this is very hard to judge.

I'd stay away from him, but if we do move then hoping for a deal around £30m just isn't going to happen.
The attributes that stood out to me last season wasn't his skillwith the ball at his feet, or amazing vision, it was his work rate and willingness to run through walls for the cause. You have to ask if this wasn't amplified due to the fact he was a hometown boy and every one around him, family, friends, neighbours etc were relying on him and letting him know exactly this. You aren't going to find someone more determined to stave off relegation than a genuine lifelong fan who's family are also cut from the same Evertonian coloured cloth. He's definitely not worth close to that money yet, and probably never will be.

Why not Maddison, a superior player, for the same price?
Probably because Gordon fits our/Conte's system more than Maddison. We have been told that he didn't want an Eriksen "type" so can't particularly see him wanting Maddison.

Gordon plays in a front 3 mainly.
Whether we like it or not that's where we are

Been watching him closely this season after being baffled by the links/prices being quoted in the summer. It still makes no sense. There's no incredible talent there that I can see taking him to the elite level. Dan James made no sense. Jack Harrison for 60 million made no sense. Really hoping this story will go away like they did.

He’s not doing much more than fifa favourite demarai gray.
as you say, to pay that for Gordon when Maddison is available (and suits our system better too) makes no sense

Sky said Toon talking to Everton fee offered £40 million - much less than the £60m bandied around in the summer.

Chelsea linked as cover for Mudryk, Felix, Sterling, Pulisic, Mount, Ziyech, Aubameyang, Havertz, Broja, Madueke and Fofana. And Lukaku and Hudson Odoi who come back in the summer. Meanwhile we haven't got a starting right wing back yet.
