Dont get me wrong I love beating the Woolwich and for the first time in 17 odd years it looks like we will finish above them (still a fair bit to go mind, and not guaranteed)

However I am probably unusual on these boards in that I really dont hate them. In fact in allot of ways I admire them. Mainly because they are not owned by some sugar daddy and are trying to do things the right way. But for me they are a proper football club and me personally have been brought up with the North London Derby being a great contest between 2 footballing giants, and this has been the case in my eyes for all of my 36 years. From beating them 5-1 in 83 to the tears of seeing them win the league at our place in 04.

I love the rivalry and probably like allot like you have a few gooner mates and colleagues not to mention the professional relationships I have with Arsenal fans where the banter comes in great when trying to build rapport and close a deal.

Its all healthy. Why? Because lets face it forget Chelsea and west Ham. Spurs are Arsenal are by along way the best 2 supported clubs in London historically and we are everywhere!

I also listen to some of the old Spurs and Arsenal players and you just know that there is a mutual respect between the players going down the years.

I actualy used to live on the same street as Nigel Winterburn and like some of Gooner players from that era is a top bloke and never had a bad word against Spurs. Just said he loved the rivalry.

Sure it will be mildly amusing if Arsenal missed out on champions league but for me its much more healthy if both North London giants were eating at the top table of European football.

For the last 7 season the NLD has been the best derby in the country and the biggest. Long may in continue IMO.

Would much rather see Chelsea miss out because I despise everything about that club and can never consider them a "big club" think they are micky mouse to be honest.

and as for Liverpool. I have never really liked them.

Who else is with me?!

I'd like to see them out of the top four for at least a season or two, just to rub their noses in it a bit, but I agree somewhat that it's nice to have the competition, imagine if they became like the Spammers and a guaranteed 6 points every season eh?

I would love that, I would even like to see them relegated but they have finished ahead of us in the league every season since 1997 so that is not very likely

I was debating this the other day actually, and I am torn, but not for the reasons above. If they finish outside the top 4 we may see a complete overhaul of everything that is wrong there, however if they finish inside the top 4 the blinkers and "everythings alright" attitude will remain.

One of my best mates from Uni is a gooner (funnily enough his Mrs is also a Yid), and last season when we were in the CL, he said he was pleased to see Spurs doing alright and playing in Europe. I think much as both sides hate each other, it woudn't be quite the same without a fiercely contested, competitive NLD every season.

I feel the same way, for the same reasons. Rather the Goons than Chelsea. Of course, Newcastle would be even better.

Jay The Yid.....you do realise that if Arsenal finish 5th they wont actually get relegated from the league?

We will still have the NLD's next year to look forward to.

Fuck the Gooners, I bet there wasn't one of these threads on their forums when we were battling last year for 4th.

Just me then?!

Probably!

I think they have had it "their way" for so long now that it would be nice for us to be able to to say we are the better club without any possible comeback.

I'd prefer Newcastle in 4th, but if not them then I would go for Chelsea. They are going to spend cash no matter what and that will be enough of a motivator for a lot of players. If Arsenal and Liverpool both miss out then this Summer's transfer activity could be pretty good for us.

Want them out of the Top 4 as the lack of CL football will hit them harder financially. If Chelsea don't make it then Roman can just put his hand in his pocket and they can buy some more players. With Arsenal, RVP will leave and players won't want to join and hopefully they can fall to be the mid table club that we were for years

If we finish 3rd and Newcastle finish 4th we will have a field day in the transfer market

Nope, I'd like to see them on a slow slide to mid-table mediocrity.
At least for a few seasons, just to bring some of them down to earth a little.
Failing that, 5th or 6th would do fine.

I'm with you, Jay. I like them better than Chelsea and Liverpool, and Newcastle too now. Arsenal for the Champions League! Would prefer Norwich or Swansea to get the last spot, but they probably won't, so I'm giving it to Arsenal.

We had this thread a few months ago and I said I'd rather have Arsenal finish 4th than Chelsea. However it later occurred to me that it might be satisfying to see Chelsea finish 5th but if Arsenal finish 5th it would actually make a difference because they need the money and Chelsea don't. So Chelsea finishing 5th would be the just thing but Arsenal finishing 5th would be best for Spurs.

That said I'm crossing my fingers for a end of season surge from Norwich or if, I grit my teeth, Newcastle
