I've got a mate who writes for the Telegraph on South American football who's based in Rio.

I'll drop him an email and see what he has heard and his opinion on Sandro. My mate is a West Ham fan, but other than that he is actually quite knowledgeable.

Seriously, this Sandro sounds like a good investment if reports are to be beleived. Maybe he can finally stop me from still feeling the disapointment of missing out on Diego

There was a long Sandro thread - linked above by the mods - and the consensus was tentatively as follows (others are free to amend or rubbish):

Sandro is the Brazil U20 captain, just called up to their full national squad.

He's a holding DM, but taller than the likes of Denilson or Lucas. Sandro is built more like current Brazilian CB Lucio.

He's primarily a destroyer, who sits in front of the back four, breaks up play and then passes the ball simply.

So, he would be the understudy for Wilson, or a DM partner for Wilson if we don't play a passer such as Hud or Luka, or a box-to-box player like JJ alongside Palacios.

Having said all the above, the mooted fee was considerably north of £10 million. If so, and if Sandro is hoping to go the World Cup with Brazil, he will probably expect regular football sooner rather than later.

Believe it when I see it. I remember all the Diego stuff with Pleat recently bragging that he had seen all the current Brazillian players when they wereyoung but didn't sign any.

Get in. Cant wait to see what the lad is all about. Have we ever had a Brazilian midfielder? We always seem to get defenders or keeper. Probably not the best position to go for in Brazil.

Quite a few of their games are shown live on Betfair.

You just need to open an account (no money req) and the video area shows loads of live football including Inter.
