Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni has come out to defend his players after seeing a World Cup qualifying match with Brazil halted in the first half.

The game, taking place in Sao Paulo, was stopped after just ten minutes with a number of police officers and health officials storming the pitch to detain four players for defying local Covid-19 quarantine orders - the individuals in question being Spurs duo Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso, as well as Emiliano Buendia and Emiliano Martinez.

Utter madness - vaccinated and negative players were not allowed to play for the sole reason of their country of origin.

If anyone is wondering why people don't want to get vaccinated, it's because of situations like this - what's the point if at the end of the day it changes NOTHING?

Part of the UK government travel advice , looks like nobody checked it before travelling.

"What you need to do to travel abroad
Before you travel abroad, you need to check the entry rules for the country you want to go to.

You should check foreign travel advice to find out if:

  • the country you want to go to will allow people from England to enter
  • the UK government advises against all but essential travel to the country"

Different reports coming out at the moment, some saying that they had an agreement from the Brazil government (?) that these players could travel and play. But someone overruled and wanted them deported.

If, and it's an if at the moment, they had an agreement only for them to change their mind last minute, then this is on Brazil.

If Argentina played them with out the agreement then Argentina are at fault.

FIFA need to come down hard on one or both for this. Depending on what really happened.

You get vaccinated AND are tested negative yet you are still a danger to others? Explain.
Vaccination isn’t 100% effective.
Covid typically has a 5 day incubation period - it is therefore possible in those 5 days that a vaccinated person can test negative despite having been infected.

can we please use this thread to discuss when our Argentine players will be back playing for us or the utter shambles that was the AFA&CBF coordination, instead of random, unscientific anti-vaxx conspiracy BS?
