It makes sense if we want to sell Bale. In AVB's system Bale would be the right forward because though a poster above mocked it, AVB wants the right forward to cut inside.

The idea is that the right forward cuts inside, the right back moves forward on the overlap AND the right sided central midfielder in the 4-3-3 moves BETWEEN the left back and the center back, so that the center back is forced wider which creates room for the right forward and striker.

And he just scored an awesome goal. :D

There must be other, young European players around who have similar attributes to Robben that we can groom into a spurs player. Can't help but think that bringing an injury prone, expensive, 30 year old isn't the smartest thing to do.

I can't believe how many no's there are, he is a fantastic player. Hence why he has played at the top level most of his career. Injury prone yes and maybe that would be an issue but certainly not a no on the basis of his play.

I think it was the role he was built for, not based on the City game I just think against top teams he gets crowded out if he plays through the middle, and Im not sure he is creative enough to plat ther long term. On the left he gets isolated easily as teams double mark him.

Playing in a loose 4-3-3 formation supporting a typical no 9 and opposite a right footed LWF would be peferct for him, IMO giving him to adjust his position according to the game.
Time will tell, Bale is adaptable of course - he was previously a LB after all - and I have no doubt he would grow into the role and make it his own.

I still think he'd be more effective on the left, he gets isolated on the left because he has no one centrally to play in or cross to once he beats his man now days

Personally I'd love to see something like

...Bale Decent striker Robben

If we somehow magically signed Robben - which of course we won't- with he and Bale switching throughout the match, not to mention having lennon on rotatoion and Townsend as back up, Lennon's pace as an impact sub is danger

pfff....if there was even the slightest chance most would be creaming over the thought of Bale and Robben as our two wide forwards in a 4-3-3.

Brilliant player but too selfish/greedy, injury prone and would want too much money. On his day he is unplayable.

Recently I've seen people say no to Arjen Robben and Edin Dzeko. Are you for real?

Bale - Dzeko - Robben
Wait a sec, I'll type that again.
BALE - DZEKO - ROBBEN

It does make me laugh when some say no to a player like Robben .... as if he ain't good enough, not just funny but bizarre.

Not that he would come anyway

Should we be interested in Robben? most of us would say yes, great player, at his age and with his wages though it is not viable, even if he chopped his weekly down to a mere 100k and was forced to eat from the value range.
We cannot afford to have any player like that in the treatment room for too long, i would rather we buy clever and make next season the season we get a quality striker, develop and give chances to academy prospects and once and for all balance the bloody squad properly, cutting out some of the shite we have collected in recent years.

Don't get it either mate. Here's a player who, despite his apparent faults, plays for one of the best teams in the world. Sure, he may not be automatic first team but in every game he's played in the CL against Barca and Juve he's been quality. Higuain and Benzema don't always play first team for Madrid, I guess they're not good enough either. :p

He is in the Man City wage bracket, not ours.

Injury prone, getting the wrong age for a winger, big wages and a bit of a knob.

When he left Madrid sure, would've loved him then but now I can see a PSG/Man City/Russian club coming in for him to give him one final pay day.

Can't we take Muller instead? And Lahm >_<
