I've been thinking about our lack of activity in the past two transfer windows, which is quite surprising with our obvious weaknesses. It seems to me than 'Arry has one eye on the england job, especially now that he has gone from us being able to 'challenge for the title', to 'it will be a miracle if we finish top 4 again'.

It seems to me that at the moment 'Arry can say that he took a relegation battling side to the champions league and did it using a relatively small amount of transfer funds. However, if we buy an expensive centre forward then it would reflect badly on him if we don't get top 4. To me it seems that 'Arry has one eye on England already.

I don't agree for a second that Harry would do this, he is a man of ambition who wants to get away from his wheeler dealer tag and prove his skills as a manager.

I have no doubt that if he were able to bring in a striker he thought was THE RIGHT striker for us and could help us win silverwear and challenge stronger for the league and CL he would be all over doing such things.

Don't get fooled by all the false perceptions the press and certain football fans present about Harry being a small club manager with no ambition etc etc, he is a football man with huge ambition.

I am sure Harry wants the England job but personally I think it's a poison chalice and if I was Harry I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. The talent pool of English players seems to be getting smaller and smaller and after the short 'golden generation' is now ending without a sniff of silverwear and it seems to me with have a bunch of over paid undertalented players at the managers disposal that even a manager like Capello (who has won everything everywhere) has failed to get to produce when it counts.

I get the distinct impression the next England manager is going to have a Graham Taylor like squad of players to choose from.

Dan Levy is taking a very prominent roll in transfers (cf the VDV deal).

We have already signed two players this TW (Khumalo & Pienaar). The fact that they have been bargains (as was VDV) doesn't mean they won't be excellent signings. Indeed, I think we have a much better transfer policy than Citeh, spunking yet another fortune on yet another striker who is untried in the Prem, neccessitating yet another striker disgruntled 'cos he isn't getting a game, and agitating for a (cut-price) move:duh:

Fact is he's getting old and the England job has been publicly known as his dream job for years. He won't risk tarnishing it by ruining what was a great achievement last season.

He might want the Englsnd job. He's an old-fashioned guy who appreciates tradition and he likely sees managing the national team as the pinnacle of a career.

Ideas of him not spending money to help him get that job are way off the mark though.

THIS

Understanding that he is part of a generation for whom management of your (home) national team is the pinnacle of a career does not necessitate a conspiracy theory.
