If we manage to get a few first team defenders back in time I believe we could take Arsenal in the League Cup.

Too fuckin' right! We'll have them rattled on today's performance. They expected a walkover victory, and it certainly wasn't that. Yes we lost, but it was very, very close. This was their first team vs a depleted Spurs team. They League Cup games should be a weakened Arsenal team vs a full strength (with new signings, fingers crossed) Spurs team.

Audere-Est-Facere.

Today in 3 words: Heartened, proud......heartbroken

Know how you feel buddy :-( Future looks very bright to me though

a miss from 3 yards out and a 'gimmie' penalty, truely a shocking game from keane, doind nothing for 89 mins and when you get something gift rapped (2 occasions) he goes and misses

really didnt deserve the start robbie but he got it and let us down
could have won that game had he not played oh well he'll still bea hero to the dummie spurs fans somehow

Look buddy, I'm an ex-Keane slater. I used to question his inclusions and performances, but since the Fulham away game last year (FA Cup) we've seen a Robbie Keane who does deserve to start. Today wasn't his best game, but he wasn't as bad as people make ourt.

In the first half, he won so many flick ons. I was sure it was Berba until I realised it was Dimi' racing onto them. He held up the ball very well, and I thought both him and Berba had very good first halves.

In the 2nd half, he wasn't great, and did miss 2 good chances. The first he should have scored, but so what? Do top players miss chances, too? Yes they fucking do. Robbie missed it. It happens. The penalty miss - do the best penalty takers miss penalties? Yes they do! Matt Le Tissier missed 1 in his career if I remember correctly. Shearer missed a fair number of them. Sheringham missed them (Man Utd debut V us). IT HAPPENS! Don't be such a short signed pleb and claim he's shite. His goal contribution for us is top notch (2 away from his century).

Try understanding football before spouting such shit.

Keane takes the penalties because he's scored like 10 in a row.

Amen buddy :beer:His only other miss for us was V Sunderland. He was the best player to take the kick. He missed. Maybe Berba would have scored, maybe not. I would have still picked Keane to take it, and I would do again if given the chance.

When are people going to realise that nether Defoe or Keane are going to take us to the next level. Keane was a sub at a top 4 team 6 years ago and Defoe is just not good enough.

Both are one dimensional players.

*deletes personal attack*

I think to say that because a young Robbie Keane wasn't first choice at Leeds he's not good enough for where we want to be is moronic. When he first joined us, he wasn't half the player he is now IMO. He's improved so much, turning his potential into real class. He wasn't first choice at a CL club when he wasn't great... well he much have done something right, because after 6 months of having him on loan, they were prepared to pay £13m for him.

Keane season so far in the Premiership is nothing special.

From open play he averages little better than a goal every 3 games.

He's been ok but nowhere near the god some people would have you believe.

couldnt have said it better

I couldn't give a flying fuck about goals per game and believe me nor do Ramos or Poyet. Duncan Ferguson was one of the best forwards in the Prem, but he rarely ever scored. Bergkamp had a goal every 3 as well at Arsenal - playing the same role of 2nd striker as Keane usually does.

Stop using stats to back up your arguments. They mean nothing and there are too many variables in football for you to just use one and say your point is proven.

1- Keane has missed pens, everyone does.
2- did he bottle it today..looked like it, didn't hit it with much belife so what he has done before doesn't have anything todo with what happened today.
3- would need to see it again.

Oh get off it, Chris. You're giving answers for the sake of disagreeing :|

You're a bit of a cock aren't you.

I would've liked to have seen Defoe start today as he was on form and Keano had been out, but how anyone can say he's let us down and that 'dummie' fans will still see him as a hero, is beyond me.

I'll assume you're about 14 so i won't be too hard on you. But before you spew shit, please consider that, as the commentators pointed out, he's scored 29 goals for us in 2007, which is right up there with the best in the premiership/Europe. We would've won the game without him would we? You know that do you? Someone else would've backheeled that ball to Berby would they? Also bare in mind that Keano's been out for 3 games so you can't just expect him to come in and run the show. If you didn't think he should start, why don't you start a thread on how Ramos is an idiot for picking him. That'll go down a treat won't it.

Some people have very short memories and i don't know why i'm surprised, every fucking week there's plenty of retarded comments after a match, win or lose.

 Have some rep.

Shit result but what a great performance from us. O'Hara looks a gem of a player, I wouldn't want to over-hype him so I won't say much but I thought he was our best player. Keane didn't have one of his better games and that penalty miss was crucial. We should beat them in the Carling Cup over two legs.

Fabregas didn't look very special today did he?

By no means do i think hes a god. He often really fustates me but
1) only 3 people have scored more than him in the league (only 1 more)
and
2) what other options are there? play defoe? I like defoe but is so inconsistent and can often go 90 mins without even seeing him let alone him doing anything so keane (at the present) is always the best option with berby imo.

Yeah O'Hara was great today. I don't want to hype him too much either, but he could definitely be a mixture of Hoddle, Gazza, Waddle and Ginola mixed into one.

And if he doesn't become that good, i'll boo him.

I can't beleive Pleat jinxing the penalty. Was it Keegan that did it a few years ago during an Englan shootout?

I'm glad that you deleted the personal attack as there is no need for it. Attack the post, not the poster.

The EPL is much stronger now than it was 6 years. You say when he first joined us, he isn't half the player he is now? Well, what has he improved since he's been at WHL...

I never said my point was proven.

I gave an opinion the same as you do.

You say that Duncan Ferguson was one of the best forwards in the Premiership, I completely disagree but respect your opinion. Bergkamp and Keane in some ways are actually quite similar except in my opinion Bergkamp is or was a miles better player than Keane.

I'm not knocking Keane, merely saying he is nothing special and it's normally the anti Defoe brigade who roll out the stats.

Just imagine if the penalty was given as soon as keane went off and defoe stepped up and misssed. We would ALL say if keane was on the pitch he would have scored. I'm just surprised that keanos pen was struck so low he normally aims higher

positives

i think o'hara could really develop into a top central midfielder for us alongside th likes of JJ or KP. We have 2 home games in the space of 3 days. 6 points is an absolute must
