The common theme is deflection. When their team fails to perform, Liverpool's media managers have always found ways to create controversy to mask their team's poor on-field performances. It takes the pressure off the manager and players, and unites their supporters in their inherent hatred for opposition players, officials etc.The Liverpool one, I understand to an extent because it was a mistake that meant a goal that should have stood, didn't.
Arsenal are just straight out complaining about a subjective decision from a referee, which refereeing decisions have always been!
What we're seeing with Arsenal is just the same. The club doesn't want the press and pundits to focus on the failings of their expensive but unimpressive goalkeeper, so they have chosen to create and amplify a grievance against the officials and PMGOL.
