And it's hard to disagree. You see how so many reacted online to Spurs' CL draw - 'haha, already out...' etc - when English teams in general have been piss poor compared to Spain, Italy or Germany. Most seem to think of it as 'failure' instead of enjoying the big games or the away days as fans. Arsenal, like in the PL, have been in it for the money for years. Remain reasonably competitive but without the intent or ability to win it - thus finishing 3rd/4th or getting utterly destroyed the first time they meet a good team. The club doesn't show much ambition to improve or go further. They have repeated the same pattern for several seasons now - hence the voices wanting Wenger out.

All that makes the replies even sweeter.

this one is realistic at least. 'it' being the Europa League.

Just read through Wenger's interview on Sanchez, he seems to think he will sign a new contract at some time this season but more succinctly he said there is no Champions league this season so we can concentrate on the premier league.
Doesn't sound like he is going to take the Europa league seriously then, unless in his supreme arrogance he thinks it will be a walk in the park.

If he does that he's an idiot, as we know you need full commitment in that competition as others teams raise their games.

Intrestingly I was talking with my mate recently a Utd fan who would always berate Spurs for not doing better in the EL, last season he said to me now he understand, he said it's an absolute slog and it's impossible to maintain form in both EL and the league. Seems like fans only understand the difficulties of the EL once they're in it
