This is a complete shit show, the Arsenal fans who sold their seats to Koln fans along with the club for not arranging adequate stewarding/policing have a lot to answer for.

It saddens me to see this.

We should be able to laugh comfortably at their team getting beaten, seeing kids and families shit scared in the crowd because of the diabolical behaviour of fans and the shambolic club organisation takes the shine off that. Nobody paying to watch a game of football should have it spoiled for them in this manner.
Exactly, rivalries aside, it's sad knowing there'll be kids in the crowd tonight who'll have been there first-hand seeing the Köln fans kicking off. Still nice to see the team on the pitch struggling though

Their confidence is completely shot. Players with ghostly faces. It could be gruesome at Stamford Bridge on Sunday... I'll have plenty of popcorn and the fridge stocked with beer.
Half the club pretty clearly don't want to be there. It's poisoned the other half and destroyed any hope of team cohesion. Alexis looks like he is just out there having a jog without a care in the world. Watching them this whole season is going to be fantastic. It has potential to be one of the biggest meltdown seasons in football history.

In it to win it.. play with a weakened team. Giorud hungry ... :D

He's in for a pleasant shock.
First of all, spurs have only been laughing at their entry into the Europa because they put us down about it for years, let alone got all snobby about the competition. So other fans are laughing because they themselves have to endure it.

Secondly, it's not as simple as putting out a mixed team. It's the fact that you lose days preparation for the PL game due to it being a Thursday, the travel and the extra round you get.

He'll soon see.

Yes - many of the residents of Holloway rd have been surprised to learn that there is apparently a football stadium nearby tonight.

Well. @Gb160 called it early on. This has been quite the rude awakening for the Islington darlings.

Might pull and all nighter waiting for arsenal fan tv.

Or if you are Spurs you get to play in Seville on a Thursday and then away to Chelsea on the Saturday lunchtime , a mere 40 hours or so later.

What kicking off? It looked like there were supporters who were allowed to pay for a ticket who enjoyed themselves in the Emirates for once. Apologies if I missed the hooliganism...

I was wondering wtf was going on today. I was around Euston/Kings Cross early afternoon to see tonnes of FC Koln fans around. Later on I walked past Oxford street to see what was seemingly half the population of Nordrhein-Westfalen marching through. 30 thousand fucking people here for the first match in the Europa League group phase. Jesus.

A friend who was in the stadium said it was really tense with thousands more than the official allocation getting in, and getting rowdy in the home support sections, including the family section. Then the away crowd tried to congregate at the allocated away section despite the inconvenience of Arsenal fans being in the way.

And it was chaos outside the stadium too. The only reason tje game went ahead is because it would have been more dangerous to call it off and face the potential backlash from that.

It's not hooliganism but it's not ideal, either.

Definitley possible.

Köln is famous for their emotional fans. Most of them are just passionate but they also have a large group of dickheads who are open for any sort of trouble.
It is just "unlucky" that this is the first fixture. Köln back in Europa since about 2392 years ad everyone wants to be there as anybody knows they won't repeat that achievement anytime soon and are more likely to get relegated this season.

Will be interesting if there are similar problems in Belgrad. Could end up far worse.

As Im sure you know, during the civil wars in Yugoslavia, the govt recruited Red Star supporters as paramilitaries to terrorize the rebellious factions. You'd have to be a fool to go there and try and provoke them.
