It's kinda forgotten now, but Chelsea getting rid of Ancellotti was one of the most quietly moronic managerial sackings of the PL era.

Even though Arsenal were poor on Sunday, a loss to City in a cup final wouldn’t normally be such a talking point to the extent Wenger’s job is more under threat now than at any other time.

I genuinely believe that the reason behind this outbreak of Arsenalshititus is mainly down to Gary Neville’s commentary. He was so beautifully harsh and people have been talking about that more than the game itself.

I don’t know whether to love him or hate him for it because for the first time ever, even the Wenger lovers have now had enough which means he won’t sign the 12 year extension I was hoping he’d sign in July.

I wouldnt put it past them to give him one.
Thing is, the club has been falling apart for a while, contracts running down, etc. This was pointed out on here a couple of years ago and now it's all coming home to roost and no-one at Arsenal did a thing to address it. His last contract last summer just shows that they are delaying the inevitable. Can't see how this can be a money making exercise by the owners. They'll lose out eventually meaning they will sell up and the worry is they get a decent/loaded owner.

I think they do have a lot of contracts ending next summer. Coincidentally the same time Wenger's new contract runs out. You'd think maybe they would be planning everything behind the scenes for that point, to properly change the club.

But thankfully, I dont think they've the appetite for that. They just want the cash out of the club. I dont even think it will matter to the owners if they dont get champions league. They money they take out of the club will always be consistent as they sell out the stadium every week and get the TV money.

But without success do they really have the fan base? Even the amount of trophies they’ve won in the last 4-5 years would do most clubs. It’s unrealistic for them to expect more, or even the same amount in the coming years. And at the prices they charge a lot of people will probably decide against renewing until they get some guarantees.

I agree to a degree but they do get a lot of tourists going to the Emirates which will probably keep them going.....thats unless they all jump ship to us. Saying that, I remember reading that all their hospitality contracts are up for renewal this summer. I suspect we will be a better proposition to a lot of the corporates now what with having a newer stadium.

If the season ticket holders are thinking twice I’m sure the tourists will be easily swayed. Not that we want them.

Is he being sarcastic though? IE. the most important person and the one you'd think would go first hasn't been fired and replaced?

The trouble with Arsenal is that they've allowed Wenger over the years to basically have complete control over everything at the club. Therefore they're having to slowly put new people in charge of various roles before they sack him because if they'd just sacked him last season it wouldn't have just been a manager they needed to find, they'd have had to recruit people for like 10 different jobs all at once.

Yeah I dread the new place being like the emirates and full of day trippers there taking photos and not singing or helping the atmosphere
