Hard to attract when you're not in the CL too. But they're not that close to being very dominant.
Agree and even when you are in the CL. You either develop them yourself such as we did with Kane or be big enough to buy one. CL did not effect their spending this season and the last but remains to be seen if they don’t get it next year what they can do

Just watched all.or nothing arsenal, just the 1st game against Spurs and all of the last episode, haha!!! Comedy gold, Arteta's a lunatic, seeing parts of that first game against them really makes you realize how good we have it now

They aren't dominating anything whilst City are around with Pep and Haaland.

They are playing good football and they do look good, but again you feel that as a young team when the pressure builds and the going gets tough they will bottle it.

They still haven't really had to deal with congested fixtures yet either. Wait until after this break then the period before the World Cup should really test them and their squad depth.

One of their virgins created a completely meaningless stat - 'average position of opponents faced'.

Can't remember what the average positions were for each team but Arsenal's was highest (7th I think) then us (11th I think) City (14th I think.)

This is such a non-starter of an argument to prove you've played tough teams.

Firstly we are only 7 games in so the pool is small.

Secondly, and more importantly, the current position of most teams is not a good measure because they won't finish there.

For example, United are 5th, Chelsea are 7th, Liverpool are 8th, WH are 18th. Brighton are 4th and Fulham are 6th.
Several teams haven't played 7 games either.

Our average has been dragged down because WH are 18th and Chelsea are 7th. These two teams are our big rivals and will certainly finish higher than their current position.

Arsenal beat Fulham (6th) and Brentford (9th). Neither of these two will finish this high in the league.

Arsenal played the team in 5th (United) but lost. So they've played 3, won 2 and lost 1 from the top 10.
We have only played 2, Fulham and Chelsea, winning 1 and drawing 1.
Whereas, City haven't played a team that are currently in the top half but we all know they'll win most of those games anyway.

So yeah, a completely meaningless stat, at least at this point.

He looks pretty good to me so far and young CB’s aren’t usually that great. Not sure why Arsenal loaned him out last year when they were in such shit state at the back (of course they moaned about having no players available too).

We’ll have to see over a longer period of time just how good he is but it is very Arsenal like to proclaim great things after such a short run of success.

They are an excellent side. I am very interested to see them play city.

They demolished Brentford with ease, a side we all thought they'd struggle against.

brentford fans said they are the best side they've faced since coming into the prem.

They definitely have a strong first 11 but they had spells like this last year and as soon as teams challenged them they wobbled. I think they are a lot better than last year but this has been a very comfortable run so far and the one time a team really challenged them (Utd) they looked fragile. Let’s see how they cope with a tougher schedule, rotation and injuries but either way they aren’t going away.

I was also interested to see them play City but I think for a very different reason :cautious:

I think everybody on here was confident of an Arsenal victory against Brentford (esp after the City game had been postponed). Oct was always going to be their big test with Europa mixing in with home fixtures against us & Liverpool. That's been made a bit easier by rescheduling the City match but we'll have a better idea of what level they're at by the end of next month.

If I was to stick my neck out I think their Oct results will go:
  • Home vs Spurs - Draw
  • Home vs Bodo - Draw
  • Home vs Liverpool - Lose
  • Away vs Bodo - Lose
  • Away vs Leeds - Lose
  • Home vs PSV - Win
  • Away vs Saints - Win
  • Away vs PSV - Win
  • Home vs Forrest - Win

My personal view is the current hype is one of my hated media tropes where a defender is over-hyped up after they score a couple of goals (my mind always goes to players like Lescott, Maguire & Mings). Call me old fashioned but I'd rather they hype a defender after some decent defending.

Will give him the benefit of doubt though as I haven't seen enough of him yet to form an opinion. Hopefully he'll be told to press Sonny tightly like Holding did last season

They'll get 4 or 6 points from the Bodø games. No way they won't win at home and then away in the North is a toss up.

My thinking is Arsenal will be heavily rotating in the home game (as it's between NLD & Liverpool) then the away fixture is after a defeat to Liverpool where confidence will be low, it's a tricky destination in northern Norway and Bodos home record in Europe is impressive.

Tbh I was pretty gutted when we didn't sign him a few years ago - there's a reason he was voted best CB in France last year and cost them so much money as an 18 year old.

There's a lot of ridiculous hyperbole around him at the moment but can't deny he looks very promising indeed. Just got to hope he doesn't extend his deal and one of the mega-clubs comes in for him.
