A date that sticks in all Arsenal supporters' minds is May 21, 2005. On this date at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, Patrick Vieira lifted the FA Cup after the Gunners' penalty shoot-out win over Manchester United.

Little did everyone know that what would follow would be a near six-year wait for their next major trophy.

But the long trophy drought has not been without some near misses and heartbreak for the north London club over the past five-and-a-half seasons, so Goal.com UK takes a close look at some of the key statistics from Arsenal's long wait without a trophy.

0 - Trophies Arsenal have won in just under six years.

0 - Trophies won at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners moved to their new home from Highbury back in 2006.

1 - Major trophy north London rivals Tottenham have won since Arsenal’s last major success in 2005. They won the League Cup in 2008 by beating Chelsea 2-1 after extra time, ending a nine-year trophy drought.

2 - Finals Arsenal have lost since the start of the 2005-06 season. They fell at the final hurdle of the Champions League final in 2006 to Barcelona and the League Cup final to Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea in 2007.

2 - Trophies Cesc Fabregas has won in his time at Arsenal. He has one FA Cup, which was in 2005, and he also has the 2004-05 Community Shield to his name. His international honours for Spain boast the European Championship and the World Cup.

3 - Semi-finals the Gunners have lost since 2005. They were beaten by Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea in Champions League, League Cup and FA Cup semi-finals respectively.

3 - Semi-finals Arsene Wenger’s men have won since 2005. They beat Villarreal, Tottenham and Ipswich.

3 - Arsenal captain’s who have tried and failed to lift a trophy since Patrick Vieira last did it in 2005. Thierry Henry and William Gallas both tried and failed and since then Cesc Fabregas has had no luck. The 23-year-old Spaniard has a chance to correct that on Sunday against Birmingham.

4 - Current Arsenal players who were part of the squad back in 2004-05. Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie , Emmanuel Eboue and Gael Clichy were in and around the first-team squad when Arsenal won their last trophy.

6 - Trophies Chelsea's Ashley Cole has won since he moved to Stamford Bridge from Arsenal in the summer of 2006.

7 - Players in the first-team squad that played the last time Arsenal got to the League Cup final. In 2008, the Gunners lost 2-1 to Chelsea, and Cesc Fabregas, Manuel Almunia, Theo Walcott, Denilson, Abou Diaby and Emmanuel Eboue all featured in the match. Johan Djourou was an unused substitute.

8 - Number of trophies Chelsea have won since 2005-06. They have picked up two Premier League titles, three FA Cups, one League Cup and two Community Shields.

11- Major honours won by Arsene Wenger during his time in charge at Arsenal. The Frenchman joined in 1996 and the League Cup on Sunday could be his 12th trophy in 15 seasons in charge of the north London club.

11 - Major trophies Manchester United have won in the same period of time. The Red Devils have won the Fifa Club World Cup, the Champions League, three Premier League titles, three League Cups and three Community Shields since the start of the 2005-06 season.

13 - Jack Wilshere's age when Arsenal won the FA Cup against Manchester United back in 2005.

18 - Cesc Fabregas' age when he helped Arsenal win the FA Cup back in 2005. The former Barcelona trainee is now 23.

69 - Months since Arsenal last won a major trophy.

2005 - The year Arsenal last won a major trophy.

2009 - Days since Arsenal won their last major trophy.

Haha. Furry muff. I must admit, I wondered where they got a whole dozen more major honours from, to go with their already depressing tally of 27, for a moment.

Take how we felt about Steven Carr leaving to 'win trophies' and times that by 50,000 is probably how Arsenal fans feel about Ashley Cole..

Or on second thoughts.. us & Campbell :bang:
