I would be pleased to make it through the group stage given we are likely to be in a group with strong teams.

But lets beat the young boys first.

If Sevilla crash out I think we'd go in to Pot 2 (is that right, anyone confirm?) if we were to go through.

Meaning we'd get one of the big boys and two supposedly "easier" teams.

But, yes, spot on. Let's concentrate on the job at hand first before getting carried away with ourselves.

On our day i'd fancy our chances against all the teams you listed. My only fear would be Barcelona and maybe Real Madrid once they gel under JM.

I wouldn't put Benfica, Lyon, Sevilla, Roma or Milan ahead of us.

Barcelona
Man Utd
Inter Milan
Real Madrid
Chelsea
Tottenham
Then the other lot....

I think in a two leg match we'd be even money (or near as damn it) to go through against some of those teams I listed, however when it comes down to chances of winning the whole shebang I just think they have the CL experience and perhaps, in some of the cases, they also don't have such domestic distractions as we probably will.

Didn't we just beat Benfica on their own patch to win the Eusebio Cup?

Why... yes we did!

As for beating Benfica pre-season... well!

This is going to be the sticking point, if we make it past YBB - the way we cope with the increased number of games, how our league form is and how it will affect us psychologically, fatigue, injuries - i really doubt our progression will be stalled by lack of trying but to be in it for the long haul will take a lot of focus.

Exactly.
