Our squad is ridiculously good at the moment - most of the people listing their first 11 haven't even mentioned King or Woodgate which shows how strong we are.

Our weakest players - in relation to our direct rivals (Top 4 around us) in the first Xl that Redknapp would pick (I think) are:

Defoe
Keane
Dawson
Pav
Hutton
Huddlestone

That's not to say they are wank and should be jettisoned asap, just they are the easiest to improve on.

and one thing is for sure BC, Harry wouldn't have Dawson or Hudd on that list and nor would I.

*Just to say, I'm perfectly fine with the first 10, strikers a distant last for me.

You what?

Interesting. I cannot for one second agree that Gomes is our weakest link. However, in our first eleven (which I now consider to be: Gomes - Hutton, Daws, Kaboul, BAE - Lennon, Hudd, Modders, Bale - VDV - Defoe) I'd say I'd rank the players from strongest to weakest like this:

1) Modric
2) Bale
3) VDV
4) Dawson
5) Gomes
6) Huddlestone
7) Lennon
8) BAE
9) Kaboul
10) Defoe
11) Hutton

It feels horrible to have Defoe as the second weakest link but so it goes.

Oh god. More Dawson fan-girling.

Swap Dawson with Defoe and we might be getting there.

Your worst player in your best eleven?

Then it's the striker position, and it doesn't matter if Crouch/Defoe/Pav plays.

Gomes is an excellent goalkeeper, just a little error prone, but it's not like Cech and Reina don't make mistakes as well.

This.

Player of the season last year wasnt he? As for Defoe: We might all be suffering from very short memories when we write him off. Hopefully he'll be back to his best and we'll all feel very silly..

Agree - he hasn't really have much of a chance in this team just yet...for all we know he could form a great understanding with VdV and be scoring for fun by the end of January...

All of our players are looking better because the level around them has lifted - BAE for instance is playing very well, but a lot of that has to do with the exceptional support he receives from Modders. Look at a guardian chalkboard and you can see how much pressure is taken off him by Modders always offering an option.

I think it's very likely we will see Defoe thrive on the Bale, VdV, Lennon combination behind him...

i don't know why so many people think hutton is our worst player, far from it, when he came he was brilliant, he then had a very very bad spell and had a shocker in the 4-4 at the emirates but he's back on form now and is a top top player, the guys up at rangers didn't call him the white cafu for nothing :p

Back in the Summer I said I thought Hutton could still do a job for us, so I am more than happy he has come in and taken his chance, and I wouldn't say he was a weak player. But if I have to pick one player out of our first 11 (which he has been in regularly, recently) as the weakest player in that starting 11, I would say Hutton...and that is what the question asked us:shrug: Impressed as I have been with his efforts to forge a career at WHL, I still felt Corluka was more assured and the defence more solid, when he came on against Fulham.
