Hutton has done very well to drag himself back into contention. Charlie was quality though when he came on yesterday.

Incidentally, anybody see the Chelsea game today? Cech is not better than Gomes. Watch the third goal for Villa, he does nothing! Gomes may well have fouled the player, or dropped the ball in the net, but he would have done something! Hell, he may have even done enough to stop the ball ending up in the net.

i don't know why so many people think hutton is our worst player, far from it, when he came he was brilliant, he then had a very very bad spell and had a shocker in the 4-4 at the emirates but he's back on form now and is a top top player, the guys up at rangers didn't call him the white cafu for nothing

He's not as good as Kompany, Toure, Lescott (just). I honestly can't say about Koscielny or Squillaci, I haven't seen much of them. They don't look as strong as Dawson but it's hard to judge a CB having his first few games in a new country where the league is faster than what they've been used to. Neither have overly impressed me though so far but Vermalen is definitely better.
Even yesterday, when a few were giving him MOTM, I thought Dawson had a few very iffy moments including another sell himself high up moment early on which allowed their fella to go clean through down the middle. He fucked it up, so it was forgotten, but - after all these years and appearances - is still doing it game after game. He just doesn't read the play right.
Because of his poor mobility (relatively speaking) and initial pace he can't do what players like Gallas and King (and even Bassong and Kaboul aren't bad at it) do where they can get right into an opponent and nibble away. If Dawson's gets to close on the deck he is very scank-able.
In this league I just think pace is a must - not in a pace is more important than everything compromise, but at our level with our aspirations, in this very quick league, players all over the pitch need it to be top drawer. They don't have to be super fast, but slow is definitely not good IMO.
