For one horrible moment (one of many) yesterday, I thought we had tossed away the chance to finish this season in the top five. It certainly seemed that way. Mathematically I thought it was beyond us.

Given our general awfulness at present, it probably still is.

But we can still dream. We can still try. However we now need to win every single remaining game to secure 5th place. From Aston Villa.

No, don't call the nurse. I'm feeling perfectly well and don't need a restorative or lie down in a darkened room. I am talking about the ALL TIME PREMIER LEAGUE TABLE. As the smarter-minded of you might have worked out*.

PREMIER LEAGUE ALL TIME TABLE - TOP 7 (including 2011/12 pts):

Man Utd - 1,639pts (GD +881)
Arsenal - 1,444pts (GD +627)
Chelsea - 1,396pts (GD +540)
Liverpool - 1,322pts (GD +480)
Aston Villa - 1,087pts (GD +53)
Tottenham - 1,076pts (GD +45)
Everton - 1,025pts (GD -13)

*None of you worked it out, did you? I'm saying nothing.

Just thought there was a bit too much positivity and good humour about the match yesterday and we could all do with bringing down a peg. So hope this post restores some much needed negativity around here. You're welcome.

If we do go 5th in the all time Premier League table, does that mean that we qualify for the all time Europa League?

Shows how well we've done since 2005. Plus we were astonishingly consistent, save the flirtation with relegation, even when we were rhubarb.

Damn! We're 348 points behind Arsenal. We're probably never gonna catch that up, considering we can't even finish above them.

As much as they disgust me with their arrogance from their manager, through their team, and down to their fans.....you can't deny that United's goal difference is just unbelievable. Even now with the weakest squad I have seen them play since Red Nose arrived they still fight it out at the top. Their sheer tenacity is almost frightening, something our current crop could learn a lot from!!
