Oh! My mistake then. Anyway , it’s still a positive having Reguilon get a rest, especially after his knock today .
Yup Reguilón will get the rest but Tanguy is in the French squad, are you the ardiles on another Spurs web site?

Very good point. Which is maybe why Dier shouldn’t be completely castigated. Wonder if he’d do better as a right sided CB?
I feel we have few players which Jose knows best and possibly the players themselves are not convinced .They will alwsys try but it wont becthier best. Tang wants to play so much he will put up with it. Thats just my take onnit.

Except he was a CB first. He got "shoehorned" as you put it into DM for a couple of seasons, but was bought as a CB.

He had a good couple of seasons in midfield next to Dembele, but has looked awful playing there pretty much ever since the Moose left. He is nowhere near mobile enough to play CM and Dembele made him look better than he was imo. I knew we'd miss Dembele but not to the extent we have. I thought he was brilliant but I still think I under rated him in hindsight.

As I say to say Dier is being shoehorned into a position we actually bought him to play in is just making excuses for him imo.

He just not good enough!

Has he got better since he retired then?

Never question his attitude or commitment but without Ledley next to him he looked half the player.
Agree, Ledley was the talent and Daws worked very hard but just was not quite the full package.

So was it confirmed who are the bag eggs/players Hugo was calling out?

Feels like the only one who’s fully been dropped is Winks, so is it just him?

Hard to say.
Doherty was also dropped.
Bale and Dele did not get off the bench.
Dier?

I reckon some of the bad apples were on the bench, Doherty was not but he is just not good enough.

My take is:

Winks - you would assume so given he’s been dropped completely.
Dele - I guess so as wasn’t brought on today (although was named on the bench)
Dier - see above
Doherty - whilst he wasn’t selected at all, is he a bad egg? Doesn’t seem like the type? Might just have been dropped due to poor performances which can happen to anyone.
Sissoko - shocking recently, but brought on again today. Is that because we have nobody else? Jose can’t be happy with his attitude recently...
Aurier - out with illness apparently so not easy to judge.
Toby - think his absence today was purely down to illness.
Bale - dropped to bench and didn’t bring him on at all so maybe?

Positives:

ndombele, moura, rodon, tanganga, Kane, vini and lots cels, and in general their attitude.

negatives:

sanchez (the bloke is a liability), constantly out of possession, gives away cheap, unnecessary fouls and to think some believe he’s playing well recently is comical.
Stevie B - offered very little going forward and poor decision making in his brief intro.
sissoko - his introduction immediately led us losing our rhythm, possession and I’d rather, despite his industry we play someone who resembles a footballer.

Mourinho 100% correct about needing the right attitude and I applaud him for calling out the wasters. Shame he can’t do it by name but hopefully we can offload those who put themselves above the club.

This term is used to suggest the opposition are poor.it takes away a lot of credit from us. We were winning the ball back quickly, putting them under pressure. We kept the ball alive around thier box. We forced them into errors and they soon ran out of ideas. We controlled the game and they didn't know how to deal with our energy. Yes, beat whats in ftont of you but we stopped them rather than they were poor. We were also under alot of pressure tonight.
They managed to pass the ball around us quite a lot, despite our improved pressing and made some decent openings via good football but just didn't have the quality on the pitch in the final third to take advantage. They really weren't great and we were a bit better. We probably deserved 1-0 and we got the second due to the extremely fortunate penalty. On another day that penalty is not given and Villa could have walked one into the net

Not meant at you in particular but I really worry that our expectations have dropped so much that we are happy about today

Dier not fit to lace Dawson’s boots
Yes!

Dawson would often get spun by quick strikers like Aguero/Torres and wasn't quick on the turn but he'd always be switched on and rarely made dumb mistakes. He'd always take responsibility.
