I take it as a compliment that most teams in the Prem go defensive against us! They can't take us in an open game!!

First cleansheet since Forest away game back in December. Probably first game this season, we had complete control whole game

I don't mean this disrespectfully but in my opinion their position in the table is fraudulent. And I expect a load of people to say 'the league table doesn't lie etc.' Well it does, and they are a prime example. A few bad ref decisions, a few bits of good luck/ bad luck and we're looking at a +/-15 point swing across a season.

I know there are different ways of winning football matches but in both games against us (even the one we lost) there was one clearly technically better team and it wasn't them. This also applies to utd where we have been comfortably better than them in both games but somehow they were close to us on points.

What we need to stop doing is being the better team and managing to drop points. Injuries haven't helped as Ange's system is high risk so you need your best defenders available in particular.
I meant it disrespectfully. They are upstarts. 🙂

With that performance nothing Villa and those below us are better ,4th is nailed on ,hoping the other 3 trip each other up and we can climb. Also well done ref redding that rat
Unfortunately far too early to say this but a tremendous confidence boost for everyone.

So many positives to take from that.

We have been struggling to make possession count and there is always a feeling we were gonna get done.

But today, we actually raised the level and blew them away.

We even could afford to botch some attacks, which shows we have another level to move into.

Yes the red pretty much killed Villa but we were 2 up and we could easily have got a third anyway.

Other points:

- A team finally gets punished against us which may play on the minds.
- A rival tries to nullify us and counter what we do but it doesn't work. Again may create doubt for others when setting up like this (Palace and Brentford will agree).

- A win over a rival for that CL spot, but a win that will have seriously dented their belief. You can lose a game like that and recover as it isn't the end and there are still many games to go. But getting crushed at home can really play on the mind, especially if the rival overtakes you.

- Belief. That win, the scoreline, the rival, the swing in GD will have given us huge belief going into the last 10.

- Overcoming the recent hurdle. We haven't been at it over the last few weeks and I have been calling for patience. Always felt like we just couldn't get going in the final third. Well today it all started to click second half. That will now give the players the calmness to go at it for 90 until the end.
