Atouba blows hot and cold. One game he can be great, the next two he can have an absolute stinker. He's new at Ajax though, allow him to settle.

Atouba did not really get the chance to settle at Spurs, which was a real shame. He got one season, and then we sold him with profit.

he was a liability once again in the 1st half of the match but was decent in the 2nd when he focussed more on defending instead of trying to do one too many backheels, leave that to the likes of suarez and siem de jong.

didn't stopped the pundits for complaining about him again and questioning his acquisition even though he was on a free. jol got a lot of stick for that.

ajax did a lot better when emanuelson came in for him and we had the defense that i wanted (vd wiel - alderweireld - vertonghen - emanuelson).

we won with 5 - 0, suarez got 4 goals, 3 in the 2nd half while ajax' 5th goal was a beautifully fast counter attack from our younger players marvin zeegelaar and mitchell donald.

i have to say though that when atouba's tricks does work they're spectacular for a defender and often surprise the opponent to our benefit.

please put your prejudice aside.

for you to say atouba is better than anything ajax had is too comical and to cover it up with 'probably' is a joke.

that's what atouba is, a joke. funny how dutch football is so underrated on here that atouba is regarded as a player better than anything ajax has to offer.

eredivisie as a whole had the 2nd best fair play record of last season while ajax contested with a club in norway for the fair play award.

posters often wonder why some clubs have so few foreign posters on certain messageboards compared to others. if they pay attention they know why this is.

Presumably Jol believes he's probably better than what Ajax had, otherwise he wouldn't have bothered taking him from HSV. Ajax's defence was significantly worse than Twente's and PSV's last season, and a whole lot worse than AZ's—and that was with the excellent and now-departed Vermaelen. And really, it's a little disingenuous for you to claim that Toobs single-handedly wrecked a perfect defensive record—that was against Groningen, who've had an awful start and aren't much cop anyway, and Waalwijk, this season's whipping boys.

Dutch football isn't underrated. It's rated as it deserves. Great fun to watch (far more than the ballsachingly tedious Ligue 1) but not that good.

Are you telling me that Ajax weren't accused of 'nihilism' by the Dutch press last season? That I didn't see a phase of nasty, negative, niggling play against Heracles and Twente, amongst others?

Get real. The Golden Age is gone, and it ain't coming back until equity returns to football. It's depressing that one EPL club can earn more than the entire Eredivisie, and very, very wrong, but it's the way of the world, unfortunately.

honestly, i should pay more respect to my elders and therefore just don't reply to you anymore when it comes to dutch football.

we're ranked as 2nd best european country just behind spain and while other countries dare to boast about their league's earnings but fail to mention their debt, i should just do likewise, just ignore it. :p

you were proven wrong by me on some occasions, so it's only natural for a man to come back bickering trying to win back some respect hehe.

Levy and his henchmen are already preparing to meet with Jol and his reps in an Amsterdam hotel. In secret of course.
