I think we still do not have enough goals in the team and need another top striker to come in. If you look at our rival they are all much stronger in attack than Spurs.. Our goal difference is always crap and we find it hard to break down teams even when we have most of the possession. This needs to be fixed to have a successful season in my opinion... I know our defense has issues but if we score more goals and are more of a threat it will take some of the pressure off the defense.

I think we'll be fine. I actually think we'll be amazing. A great squad complimented by a good, hopefully great, manager. We'll be immense. Can't wait.

All we need is Lamela to get 15 goals or so. At least we have a spread of players capable of scoring.

We don't need quantity but a bit more quality. A strong, quick beast of a striker would be great and a fast, strong and direct winger would be enough.. We're currently struggling to accomplish either..

Completely agree with this! Our much maligned defence last season, no matter how awful at times wasn't far worse then Liverpool but.....cliche drumroll.........'goals win games'

Of course teams will look to their talisman for the bulk of their goals. Soldado is such a likeable character but I think we'd all prefer a 30 goal **** then a 10 goal BFF! and who knows what Ade will turn up next season and for how long??? My gut tells me he will struggle in a disciplined system where ego has to be put aside for the good of the collective. Maybe that's unfair but unfortunately history backs my theory as only under our 'arm round the shoulder' managers 'Arry and Dim has he looked the player we need.

I think this year more then any the 'goals from the side' (remember that itk from a few years ago lol) will be the differentiator and the Sanchez's, Hazard's, Sterling's etc etc will prove the difference. I have my fingers firmly crossed that Lamela will figure amongst that list but in all honesty all I have to go on is 45 mins in a preseason friendly against a team who don't want the game and their best player by a country mile couldn't get a kick for us! I really think we will ure missing out on Remy who as much of a twat as he comes across gets you about 15 goals a season. Where would we of been with an extra 15 goals last year?

Lennon is never going to get anywhere near the goals we need from a player in his position. The closest we had was Siggy who was pretty meh! And we've sold him. Eriksen isn't exactly a goal scorer. More an assister. He will of course bag a few but he shouldn't be relied on for them.

I can't think of anyone else in our squad who will get us half a dozen or so goals let alone double figures.

For me I want 3 things:

1) A wide left forward with an eye for goal ala Griezmann
2) A big bullying brick wall bastard of a forward who scares the ball into the net ala Bony or Lukaku
3) A tenacious little fucker who is everywhere in the box nibbling ankles chasing everything down no matter how hopeless ala Hernandez...ish can't think of anyone else.

We've only got one striker who has proven he can score goals consistently in the league - and he has malaria.

We need another striker for sure.

What do you expect? You included youth players and loanees for the other teams but not ours.

There's really not a lot we can do about it. The list of Chelsea or City players alone is in the region of £100M-£150M, that's just for attackers. We just have to make do with what we have.

Can you expand on this I think I was pretty fair but stand to be corrected... Our youth players have no record of scoring goals in a top league can you tell me who you would include and which youth players I uncluded for other teams?

no doubt some of the Griezmann rumours are based in fact plus his club is offering him around on the back of those WC performances

I think the last few seasons has given us hope that we can compete with the big boys - seeing them squads listed in comparison shows us how far we have come to even be spoken of in the same breath.

Sure a few tweaks would help us and I'm certain we would make it happen if we can, but I must say, I'm more excited at being the underdog and hoping we do an Atletico Madrid - over-achieving brings the love back for football every time it happens :)

We have had a goal scoring problem for a long time we typically score between 55 and 65 league goals which is not enough to be a top team... To move to the next level we need to be scoring 75/80 goals which is at least 20 more than we did last season.

Like I said before if we scare teams with our goal threat it makes us safer defensively also. This is what Liverpool did last season very successfully...

I totally agree our current players will probably improve but I don`t think we have quite enough attacking quality to push us on, we are especially lacking a striker with electric pace ..

If guys like Lennon, Townsend, Holtby, Chadli, Dembele, Paulinho and Eriksen are all getting between 5 and 10 goals each, goals might not be a problem but who believes they will? If Kane, Lamela, Soldado and Ade all get 15 goals each again we won`t have a problem and I will stand corrected. But how likely are both these things to happen knowing how those players performed last year. I think Poch with a new system and philosophy will bring more goals but he also should be allowed to bring in a striker to help make this happen..

Don`t have to spend fortunes how much did Liverpool spend on Sturridge, Suarez, Stirling and Coutiniho about £45 Million if memory serves me right. Why do we need to make do we spent next to no money in real term in the last two seasons.

You are correct but our transfer policy in the past few seasons has been to buy only what we sell. We aren't the sort of club to spend £20M-£25M on a player and put him on big wages without receiving that money first, it's just a limitation that we need to accept I'm afraid.
