Is there gonna be a press conference for AVB? Usually they're pretty soon after the new manager is announced aren't they?

I remember seeing his conference for Chelsea last year, and marvelling at that husky voice.

Making a hard hat and fluorescent jacket look stylish at the new training ground.

Has he given an interview with the OS (or anyone) or done a press conference yet?

It has been mentioned. I've said it, and I've seen other folk saying it - and I think most of us consider it a very positive thing.

Indeed and winning becomes a habit and getting a trophy like to Europa League although not seen as important in this country is taken more seriously on the continent.

Does anyone think that the names we've been linked with and players we've supposedly gone for would still be realistic targets if say, Moyes got the job? I gotta admit it is one of the reasons why I didn't want Moyes/Martinez and why the manager having some sort of positive reputation/well known name was still of some importance. I know AVB flopped at Chelsea but I still think he gained a lot of respect from his success at Porto.

Sigurdsson alread said AVB had an influence over his decision to come here, whether that was the sole reason for him choosing us and not money we'll never know I guess but I can just imagine AVB sharing his vision for the club with players being more appealing to them more than if Moyes/Martinez were doing so.

If AVB could get his bunch of miscreant Chelsea players to where they were (5th, in cups) what he can do with our super dynamic, pacy, young and vibrant squad, god only knows.

Similarly, without adequate strategy, cohesive training regimes or flexibility in formation, our first team finished 4th. With all these things in place and the addition of talented, motivated young players and proper squad rotation, how far can we go?

We've all sat here in preseasons in years gone by with hopes and dreams of the future, but I really believe that we can substantially exceed our efforts of the last 3 years this time. So rare is it to greet every potential new signing with two thumbs up and a warm glow.

Dead excited, me!
