That's the point, 72 points was obviously easier last season because there were 4 teams that got that or above whereas the season before only three teams could manage 68 or above. Meaning the league is stronger overall.Like I said, if the previous regime had managed to emulate that 72 points we'd have been in the CL and Arsenal would have been in the Europa. And they had Modric, VDV and Bale (as well as firing Adebayor) How the fuck did they not manage to get 72 points when it's so fucking easy ?
He did bottle it. The truth is he really didn´t trust AVB that much in the first place a few negative results gave him the excuse to get rid. He bottled the Sherwood appointment as well by giving him a short contract.
Levy is a bottler but perhaps that´s not so bad as it fits our reputation as legends rather nicely.
Redknapp - the easy, and probably correct, decision would have been to stick with him
You can only control what you do, not what anyone else does. If you get more points than ever before that's obviously a better performance than ever before. If it's not enough then that's bad luck, but nothing you can do about it.
In summary, 72 points was obviously our best ever Premier League performance, but 5th was not our best result. That's just hard luck.
Quote from Ancelloti this week. And still doesn't get in the team for La Liga matches...

At the moment, the two goalkeepers are playing alternate matches and so Iker is as much our first choice as Diego Lopez."
I accept that this is a diplomatic solution to a current problem
but does not prove that your original statement
that 'Casillas was gash' was not a grossly overstated judgment in the first place.
Lopez is a seriously good keeper and keeps his place on meritin La Liga.
I wish we had as good abackup to Hugo.
Iker has played in all the cup games and the Champions League.
I agree with the general consensus that points don't mean much outside of the position they put you in (69 and 4th would obviously be my preference over 72 and 5th).
Having said that, considering neither amount of points or final position got us champions league and the difference in the players available during the two seasons I think last year was a better achievement than the year before.

There's a shock!
Meh, you gotta go with what's familiar. It's probably why you and BC haven't split up yet.
Honestly though, 72 points and no champions league with Dempsey, Dembele and Verts as your spine is a better achievement than 69 points and no champions league with VDV, Modric and King. So there.

...also, just so you don't think I'm just being anti wobbly chops (I know you get sensitive about him), I think the 4th and champions league with Huddlestone and Palacios as midfield fulcrums was a better achievement than last years 'record points total'.
