Bit of a nothing article really...

Plus what else could he have said? "Uh no... no chance of catching Tottenham, we were scared of them at the end of last season, that is why we tried to buy their best player. But now, we bow to the true leaders of London, the mighty Spurs, we won't catch them!!"

Of course he is going to say they can close the gap, just like we must continue believing that we can win the title, they must believe that they can catch us.

It's all about mentality.

If he doesn't catch us this season, he never will 'cause the Ruskie will fire him come summer.

I'm surprised he's still there now and i think had they got knocked out of the CL then he would have gone.

I reckon the only thing that can save him now is winning the CL, as they will then also qualify for it next season, but Chelsea are taking a big risk of loosing out on CL next season with AVB.

I saw the interview this morning on SSN. He said Spurs and Man City are playing great football. At this point I was very pleased. He then said Liverpool, Arsenal and Fulham as well.

From reading quotes from Lampard especially you can tell that the players don't quite get him. Funny how some people swear blind that gaffers like Juande and AVB are the future and others like Redknapp are described as not having a clue.

If Chelsea have any sense they will keep with him. I think he is top manager to be fair, he has to be with what he has achieved already at such a young age for a manager. He is obviously looking to build his own squad at Chelsea whether that will be with or without the likes of the senior members like Terry, Lampard, Cech, Drogba, Kalou and the already departed Alex and Anelka. It will take more than just half a season for that to happen. The best they can realistically look for this season is a decent run in the Champions League, 4th in the league and the FA cup. Which when you look at it isn't the worst season you can have? They will no doubt be a bigger force next season.

Tend to agree with LLPaulJ. Something tells me that Abramovich has learned his lesson and sees AVB in the long term plan. I think the guy has balls and the reason why Lampard et.al don't get him is because they have been used to being molly coddled and flattered by successive managers. AVB quite rightly is forcing them to accept that they are expiring as potent forces and sees it as his duty to rebuild the squad - they are too egotistical to accept that.

If however he does go, Harry takes the England job, and we fail to land Mourinho, I would be disappointed if we don't snap him up.

LOL! You do realise this is Chelsea we're talking about? I can't see that being good enough for them.

How I wish he stayed at Porto. Huge mistake, but arrogance took over.
