There's an awesome striker in there somewhere. He needs to get the best out of him. We can't afford to waste 100 a week.

Has there been anything (ITK or otherwise) that is suggesting he has fallen out with AVB or been excluded from the squad?

I know he went away for compassionate leave and the next thing I remember is seeing him in the box watching our game last week.

Is he injured? Been training? What's the deal?

think he's had some time off after the death of his brother. iirc there were some reports on him returning later and training on his own. hope it's sorted soon

Last season we just had Ade and Defoe upfront, this season we've added Soldado into the mix. I think Ade will want to play with this group of players, it's down to AVB now to get the best out of him and motivate him.

AVB will have no choice but to integrate him. He's the only other lone striker we have.

Yep, there aren't any if's or buts about this. We don't have any other options. Seems short sighted not having him involved in pre season now.

Getting Ade 'sorted' could be one of the most important jobs AVB has to do in the next month.

It will require a willingness on both his part to perhaps play a supporting role, and on AVB's part to give him a bit of patience and attention...but I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that the success of our season could hinge on Adebayor.

Relying on him as our main man last season was frustrating. If he can provide us with a genuine alternative this season, as a hold up man, someone who could even play with Soldado, then he could play a vital role.

When we signed Soldado I thought it was a given that Ade would be off. I'm actually pretty chuffed that we've kept him as he can be a very useful player, and he's got bags of quality.

Agree button not working for me but I feel exactly the same, Adebayor really could be key for us. But we need the Adebayor that played against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, we need that guy every time he plays. Anything less and it's just frustration from him. Just a big question whether he's up to it or not.

Totally agree.

Adebayor has to actually want it too though

This should be a career saving season for him as his stock is at an all time low so even if he goes in Jan then if I were him I'd be throwing myself at the first team and doing everything I could to make peace with AVB and my team mates

Surrounded by Lamela, Soldado and Eriksen, Ade could he great. Think how well he played with VDV. Last year he wasn't helped by Bale (too selfish), Lennon (too predictable), Dempsey (just no).

We have more naturally technically gifted skilful players now.

He's so good when he applies himself. Terrorises players closing them down, holds the ball magnificently and can poach. We need his head right and need AVB to forgive him for the "Togo Incident".

Also, Ade likes to play one-touch play. I think this is from his Arsenal days, I think that we could see lots of interchanges with him and Eriksen/Holtby/Lamela/Soldado in and around our penalty box. Which is something we hardly ever did with Bale/Lennon in the team.

Exactly, at least some of his problems were caused by playing with people who didn't see the game the way he does. Time and again he would play a quick lay off and then the attack would cycle back through the midfield or Walker to Lennon back and forth etc.

He was great with VDV & he was great with Saha who had the speed of thought to play quickly and intelligently.

Football intelligence is something we lacked last season, Eriksen, Lamela and Soldado will remedy this

When 2nd Sept
Who: Jasper

I hear Ade making peace with AVB. So hope it is so as we cannot afford to sell him. We need variation up front
