Bumping this thread as it's the way I would like/expect to see us play this year. The interesting thing for me is Paulinho. IMO he fits in the Dembele role (box-to-box) in the OP diagram... Does it mean pushing Dembele into the Siggi role (advanced)? For me, Siggi has looked good this preseason and he could be putting pressure on Demeble to start.
Paulinho will be the most advanced, Dembele still the most central player imo.
I think this is very much the intention. The DM dropping in to a back 3 allows the FBs to get forward and provide the width. If we are going to play the inverted wingers tactic, then I would like to see one of our wingers two footed (ort at least able to effectively cross with his 'weaker' foot). I don't want us to lose too much width.
That said, if our FBs can improve their crossing, this may sort itself. Rose's crossing on the weekend was a huge improvement on BAE's.
Agree, but the FBs need to provide good quality crosses, which has been far from the case in the last couple of years...I think this is very much the intention. The DM dropping in to a back 3 allows the FBs to get forward and provide the width.
