I am one of those who was very excited by AVB at the start. I became disenchanted with him, and was ultimately ambivalent toward his sacking, although I harboured a deep suspicion that maybe, just maybe, there was a grand project within him which he had not had time to bring together either at the Chavs or with us.

The main thing i did not like about his sacking was the mid season nature of it. I would have much preferred, and was vocal at the time about it, that he be given the season at least and things be sorted out in the summer break one way or the other.

The way things have gone now, i see no improvement whatsoever. We should have stuck with AVB through the season. It couldn't really have gone worse than it's going right now anyway.

Re Reading my OP it reads as more of a statement than a topic of discussion, but the main point of my feelings on this subject is that we have a Chairman who is too impatient and too trigger happy.

WE NEED CONTINUITY!

Who are in a relatively worse set of conditions? Us or UTD? United are i would argue. From champions to mid table with their new manager in one season, having held onto their super stars (Van Persie and Rooney). And yet they stick, we fold. I know which route i would favour, and I think that United will end up coming through it stronger than we will and quicker.

It has nothing to do with Moyes. It will take DECADES to reduce UTD's spending power as they really are a commercial powerhouse. It matters naught whtether Moyes stays there or not.

You really think continuity is the answer? So if we just keep faith with Sherwood you think it will turn into medals someday?

If you think that then you really are being a selfish prick by not sharing your amazing LSD with the rest of us.

It wasn't exciting but I could live with that with the knowledge that AVB had a plan and that i could see the beginnings of what he wanted to implement in regards to structure and shape and playing as a unit and I believe it would have improved the more time went on. Maybe I had bought into a vision that wan't completely materialising, I dont know. But at least there was one, now it is a complete shambles.

I also had faith in his coaching methods for eg after the focussing on training concentration over time and while tired to cut out late mistakes/goals, this showed that he had ability on the training field.

I can see why some were not fans of his, but I can not see that sacking him mid season and being where we are now with Tim is an improvement.

No, no ... I don't think that Sherwood should be continued with. I am not even saying that AVB should have been continued with neccessarily, what I am saying is that there is a time to make huge changes, and that time in the Summer. Not mid season.

I liked AVB and wanted him to succeed, and I would personally have given him the rest of the season (though I am still not sure that he was 'sacked', I think he wanted out), but the man wasn't good enough tactically. He didn't understand all the intricacies that went into his approach and so couldn't get them across to the players.

He didnt understand, or the players didnt understand the intricacies that AVB was trying to implement?

Wasn't he more referring to the AVB 'project' being ditched?

That I will agree with.

The thing is that I can even stomach sacking a manager part way through a season if we have a replacement lined up. But Tim Sherwood? Really? That's not a replacement, that is a clear downgrade. How in the world a bloke with no managerial experience, who hasn't even completed his coaching badges could get this gig is just incredible. I cannot understand the appointment in any way shape or form.

I still don't think that it's worth bringing in an interim at this stage.

I still don't think that it's worth bringing in an interim at this stage.

Why not? I'd like to win some football matches before the season closes. Even just setting up a player committee would be more palatable to me than ever seeing Sherwood anywhere near our club emblem again.

His appointment was an embrassment, his team selections are an embarassment, his tactics are an embarassment, his media-handling is an embarassment, the way he carries himself is an embarassment, and his behaviour has been an embarassment.

Sherwood continuing in any role at this club is embarassing, and something that I would prefer to see an immediate stop to.

Normally I would agree that installing an interim is usually a complete waste of time, but Tim Sherwood is not a normal appointment.
