who?, he cant run on the pitch and do the things you listed anyway, so i dont know why thats dumb, the things you mentioned are connected to playing the game, he does tactics..

AVB is clearly capable of seeing that the formation he favours requires a target man. For the Wigan game Ade was fit yet he stuck with Defoe. That left us without a target man, meaning that including Dempsey was a waste as he had no-one to play off. Those decisions fall to AVB. In terms of the keeper being proactive, again it is down to AVB to choose the keeper who suits his formation and style of play the best. Picking Freidel who does not come for crosses, does not get out quickly to through balls and does not distribute the ball well, is again a choice of AVB. I'm not sure how that is hard to understand, it is not a tactic to tell a keeper to come for crosses, it is something the keeper does or doesn't do naturally. It is not a tactic to hold the ball up and bring people into play, it is something a striker can do or he can't do. AVB can't claim that the Wigan game was just a blip as we have clearly lacked in several areas for weeks and it is his job to choose a side which minimises these obvious problems.
