If theres a Baines thread in transfer rumours then this will need merging, but i couldnt find one.Basically did anyone else notice that Baines odds to join Us fell from 28/1 to 3/1 almost overnight??

they mean very little mate, it probably takes one person sticking £50 on it for the odds to drop like that, especially on skybet.

I hadn't seen that but I did see somewhere last night that Benny has supposedly been heard saying he was highly likely to leave and therefore the link between us and some reliable left backs are more likely to be picked up on by the betting market and the papers.

Saying that, chances are some of the journo's who scan this site will probably see your post and put in the papers tomorrow!!

I so hope there's more to it, doubtful though! Nailed on for United surely?

A mate who works in this field tells me that it takes a serious amount of money to effect the odds in such a way!

Although there is still as much chance of this happening as there is of me getting a blow from Daisy Lowe!

not for small markets like transfer odds it doesn't take much at all. if i go and stick £50 on some random player to join spurs right now, the odds from that particular bookmaker would tumble right away.

I remain unconvinced. This is something you could easily prove to us...

I'd rather we used similar money to buy Luke Shaw. Has the potential to be better than baines, is already cutting it in the PL at 17, and is so much better value for money

If we buy Baines then we need to sell one of BAE and Rose and hope whichever one we keep is professional enough to be a backup.

If we can negotiate a swap deal with Southampon, Rose for Shaw, then Southampton have a ready made replacement who showed he can shine at their level last season and we have excellent competition for the left back position.

Southampton have a fair amount of cash so this can only happen if Shaw pushes for a move to us.
