Guillem Balague on why Ramos will stay at Spurs for a long time, and why Henry has not been a success at Barca:

For Juande Ramos, this is probably the biggest challenge of his career and I don't think he's going to stay for just a couple of years. He plans to be there for a long while, but it also depends on the ambition of the club. They seem to be matching his ambition, despite some doubts early on, and I think he'll finish his contract. This is probably his last big team and after that, who knows? He may realise he's been at the top and it's time to retire.

----------------------------

Thierry Henry is having a difficult time in Barcelona, but I find it unfair that he would blame his poor performances on missing his daughter, playing in different positions etc. I think he should be big enough to accept that when there is no space in front of him he's in trouble and he should re-adapt to his new situation. He wouldn't go back to Arsenal and I don't think he will go back to the Premier League. The plan is to stay at Barcelona, but I know from a good source that the club want to sell him. He will probably stay because if he doesn't want to go, he won't, but it has reached a stage where Barcelona want to get rid of the big names - including Henry.

It's a shame but we're seeing clearly why Henry was seen as such a great player in England. It's because Arsenal play counter-attacking football, played for Henry and left space in front of him so that he could destroy defences - as he did for a long while. That's not happening at Barcelona and he'll either have to re-adapt or reconsider his situation and move on.

He needs to shape his team and style very quickly, as if he delivers some of the shit seen this year, he'll be under severe pressure. I hope he off loads the dross and deadwood, replaces these with some of the outstanding youth prospect we have and a cuople of top class performers from home or abroad. Perservering with the likes of Malbranque, Zokora, O'Hara and Dawson, ain't going to take this club forward.

In terms of matching his ambition though, since the january transfer window we've been very active and very successful. Woodgate, Hutton and Modric were great first team solutions and even if Gilly ends up as a back up full back he'll be the best one we've had in a very long time indeed,

sweet mother of god, i know that us Spurs fans can be typically a bit fickle, but for god sake we just won the Carling Cup this season, our first major achievement this century!

Ramos has proved that he can win cups with his past at Sevilla, he has bought us one here is his first (not even full) season after inheriting a squad full of problems.

Wait until he gets in the types os players he wants, then we can really see what he is capable of.

But this season he has been our most successful manager of the last decade. Give the guy some slack and get behind him!!

Our toughest task will be keeping JR. With the latest managerial merry-go-round, and with more and more clubs getting billionaire owners wanting instant success, he will be particularly high on their wish-list. As per GB, our board must match his ambitions.

Same goes for Gus.

I disagree, I think JR will stay loyal to us and reject any other offers he may get. Just my impression of the man, he seems very old fashioned and decent in that respect, and I think he appreciates what Spurs want to achieve, and has been slightly surprised how big a club we are in terms of support. Wembley showed him that.

As for Ballague, I don't think he really knows anything about Spurs or Ramos and is just talking off the top of his head, as most of these paid pundits do. Gob on a stick.

JR will stay 'loyal' because of the eye-watering salary we're paying him, and no other reason.

Sorry to be such a cynical old bugger, but 'cynical' and 'old bugger' tend to go hand in hand.

I think fans can be too harsh, especially in Spain. Henry has for an example scored 18 goals in his first season....and he is still looked upon as a failure.

Many players that have played in both countries (Spain & England) have commented on how fans in England give you more time while the fans in Spain jump on your back as soon as something happens.

14, I think. Not unimpressive, but not that impressive either.
