Gareth Bale has handed Tottenham a boost by confirming he will be at White Hart Lane next season.
The Welsh winger, a revelation at Spurs this term, had been linked with a move away from North London in the summer, despite penning a new long-term deal at the club back in March.
Bale has reportedly turned heads across Europe, with Inter Milan and Real Madrid among those thought to be interested following his UEFA Champions League heroics for Tottenham this term, including his infamous hat-trick at the San Siro.
But the 21-year-old has reassured fans he intends to remain at Spurs and help them fight to better this season's fifth-placed Premier League finish.
Staying

When asked by Sky Sports News if he was staying at the Lane next season, Bale replied: "Yes, I just signed a new contract recently.
"I fully believe that we've got a good enough squad to challenge for the fourth spot next season."
Bale admits that playing abroad would one day appeal to him, with Barcelona being one possible destination, but he insists he is happy at Tottenham for now.
"I left home when I was 15 and it was quite difficult then but if I have to move abroad then it's something I wouldn't be scared of," said Bale.
"Barcelona play great, great, football but I'm happy where I am.
"I'm focused on what we want to achieve as a team next season and I'm enjoying my football here. I'm still 21, I'm getting a good run in the team and I'm still learning my football."
"I fully believe that we've got a good enough squad to challenge for the fourth spot next season. "

Bale hopes Harry Redknapp will follow his lead and remain at Tottenham amid speculation the manager could move to Chelsea

following Carlo Ancelotti's sacking.
Speaking of Redknapp, the Wales international added: "I don't think anybody at the club wants to see him go and I'm sure they're doing all they can to keep him there.
Massive

"He's been massive in what he's done at the club.
"When he first came here we were in the relegation zone. He's taken us from relegation to Champions League and he's turned us completely upside down and into the team we wanted to be."
Bale believes Tottenham must invest in the summer if they want to compete for a Champions League spot next term, adding: "It's going to be very difficult, obviously, with all the other teams spending and making their squads better.
"Hopefully we can do the same, invest in a few good players, kick on next season and do one better than we did this season."

Great news, though an admission that he may not be here beyond next season if we fail to qualify for the champions league is a little bit unnerving (Im not sure this is quoted in the article but he did suggest this in the SSN interview). Next season is massive, I can see the likes of Modric, Vdv, Sandro and Bale leaving if we dont obtain that magical forth spot. That alone should be reason enough for Levy to open up the wallet and get those strikers we so badly need.

Don't think I would begrudge Bale, Modric or VdV if they asked to leave if we finish below fourth next year. They are far too good to be slogging it out in the Europa league.

Bale? Modric and VDV prove week in and week out how good they are.

I think Bale has idea's above his stations if he thinks he's too big for Tottenham(certainly at this point) he needs to produce his best form on a regular basis and not just once every few months, before he can start getting what Modric and VDV quite rightly could.

I agree. I don't think Bale has been very good in the Prem this season.

Up to January he was great, he and Rafa were carrying us. He tailed off in the new year and suffered with injuries.

Bale seems to be quite a timid character, if he was more aggressive, almost angry, in his play, I think he would be even better than he's been.

All of our players owe us one more season.

I won't begrudge any of them a move if we don't qualify for the CL.

The thing is, though, Bale and Modric (in particular) have both reiterated several times this season that they are not looking to leave, and signed long-term contracts to confirm this.

Every time they do this, there is this big fanfare by the media, like they are giving us some big scoop, from a player who has desperately been seeking to leve and then suddenly changed their minds.

The only reason there is an inordinate amount of coverage given to the possibility of their leaving is because journos (in general) seem to feel an obligation to try to sell the best players of clubs who haven't recently been part of the elite, in order to minatain the hegemony of those who currently are. Heaven forbid they should leave a club to develop a team that could challenge at the top (unless they had just had a huge injection of oil money, of course).

Well said Mr Bale. VDV has already said he intends to stay so all we need now is for Luka to say the same and we might actually be able to relax for the rest of the summer.

Bale was forced back from injury and overused the second half of the season, so i'm not surprised he tailed off. If only we had left sided players beginning with K and R that could have stood in so he was able to recover fully.

lol, sell bale now. this is so boring. we don't need him. Luka and VdV are much more important IMO. I'd honestly prefer A Young than Bale.

Let's be honest, we should be looking at challenging for more than 4th spot with what we've got. A bit more ambition is required! Let's step it up a notch, with new strikers brought in the sky's the limit!

His form dipped because he got injured

Any club in the world would take him so I don't think he's too big for his boots.

He arguably got us 4th last year and kept us in the champions league this season.

He's done more for Tottenham than VDV has so you should be happy he's agreed to stay

He has played a handful of games, yes a handful where he was exceptional. Not a few seasons where he has carried the team through largely by himself. If he feels he's getting bigger than the club after a season or two, then fucking good luck to him.

He needs to get his head from out of his arse, stop believing all the hype and how he's one of the best in the world based upon a few fantastic performances in the CL and league.

I am thankful for his form in the early part of the season but there were many a time when he was not much better than useless. Went to ground to easily and rolled around like a little girl who's just fallen over in the back garden.

When he can show some consistency in his form then and only then could he say Tottenham are holding him back, right now only Modric could be forgiven for wanting a move away. And up until a few seasons ago Ledley King was another who deserved better than what Tottenham could offer him.

Players need to show more loyalty than just one or two seasons and then think they are bigger than the club and right now i don't think he could just walk into any team and if Bale feels that, then he needs to give his head a good shake. His performance against Inter(both times) was a magnificent performance and there have been a few others, but if as a player you all of a sudden believe you should be playing for Barcelona or Real Madrid on the back of those performances, i have to disagree.

imo of course.

I would guess, were he available, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Man Utd would snap him up.
