He was once again man of the match, played really well seems to have got his confidence back, defended well, showed good pace and got forward well today..

Lennon on the right and Bale on the left with disco behind him, im not sure if Harry will go for it but i can see hi more as a winger than a full back..

So trying to ignore the negatives from tonight and look at one of the real positives to come out of tonight..

I think Bale has been very good in the last 2 games, it will be a terrible thing if we lose this kid as he has the potential to emerge as one of the best attacking FB's in world football.

His defending is nowhere near as bad as the Seamus Coleman army make out either, he has been defensively spot on in the last couple of outings.

Bale has done well in the last 2 games, shame the rest of the team have been totally rubbish (Gomes excepted!)

He has everything to be a top full back in terms of size, pace, skill and crossing ability. Recent articles have also showed he has been working hard on the defensive side of his game. I can't think of any young FB's that haven't made defensive errors, Bale is still very much learning the game and patience is needed with him. Been very impressed with his last two performances.

One of the few good things to emerge from the past couple of games has been Bale's performances.

I've got to admit I was dubious about his ability to cope defensively in the league and thought we needed to get a better back-up left back in but he has proved me wrong.

He's been good defensively and going forwards.

He just looked tired defensively for the last 50 minutes of the game but its not suprising, the kids probably not match fit and is having to do the work of a fullback and winger without support from Kranjcar who just seemed to lose his way infield a bit.

He's looked good last few games.

Agree he looked tired in the final 50 minutes but that is probably due to the lack of games as you said. Remember he must have played only about 6 or 7 full games this season. This is one the main problems I think of not having a reserve team. Players like Jenas, Bale, Pav etc might not play for weeks on end and then when we have an injury they are expected to come in the team and hit the ground running. They can do all the training in the world but that does not make up for match sharpness.

Like the majority of people in this thread I do think Bale has looked good in the last few games and I hope if he continues in this form he isn't dropped back down to the bench when BAE is match fit as that will be bit unfair on Bale as he has waited for most of this season for his chance to have a run in the team and at the moment he is taking his chance.

He looked outstanding yesterday. The only two people you couldn't fault were Bale and Gomes. Bale's tackling was superb.

Surprised Gomes wasn't man of the match. I'm really pleased for the kid.

He only really stood out in the last game because everyone else was playing average, but he did play well anyway.

Modric and Kranjcar have left midfield covered. I think our current formation is perfect and what we really need is natural cover for Lennon. So i'd keep Bale at left back. But he is proving a great option and an alternative to Ekotto. If we need an attcking fullback then Bale is a great one to have. If he keeps up his current form then Ekotto may struggle to get back in.

But that damn curse still hangs over his head. :bang:

I also thought he did well. If anything I want him to bomb forward even more (needs someone in midfield to sit constantly). Maybe more us towards a 4-1-3-2 while Lennon is out.

It would also mean playing Hutton on the right, almost in a Brazilian formation
