I woulda said that 'Arry gave the impression that it was probable that he would miss the Milan game, without actually saying he definitely would...I think he left enough scope for a surprise.

Harry was being coy. He implied Bale is a big doubt, but i wont be surprised to see him in the squad on Tues.

Bale will play. We have a break after the Milan game, I think that he may be on the bench.

Gutted. What the fuck is wrong with his back. He's been rested for an age.

Gosh I hate Phill Neville. He's the player he came up against and got that injury right?

He said we'll be without Bale on Tuesday. Not sure how that leaves scope for a surprise.

It's the words before and after that are important, Brett. I didn't record it, so can't play it back now and give a full transcript. But how I interpreted it at the time was that he was making it sound like the Simian wouldn't play without actually saying it definitively, as I said in my original post. I don't know, he may have said 'probably', or 'there's a good chance that' or summit. All I can say for definite is that I got the impression that he wasn't giving 100% disclosure.

Hey, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong - it's no biggy; just said it didn't seem quite that clear-cut. Perhaps someone who did record it could transcribe it for us:shrug:

How? If he's not gonna play, isn't it better to tell the fans now so they don't get an immediate sense of disappointment on Tuesday?

I would say that more important than our feelings, would be the uncertainty for the opposition. If Gareth is going to miss out I would rather AC Milan didn't know that and spent some of their time worrying about him and working out tactics to deal with him.

Mind you, if he is going to play, I think it would be great news if they thought he wasn't coming and consequently had no cunning plan to deal with him.

Do we know if Modric and VDV are going to make it?

Just been on NewsNow, where various agencies are confirming that 'Arry said very concretely after the game that he won't make it.

Oh, well.
