I totally agree that it isn't a bad idea as it will develop both their games and add skills to their ever-growing lists.

However, I think they should have been switched back at somepoint and tried it that way...afterall, Defoe is a poacher and out-and-out goalscorer and could get on the end of the low crosses fired across.

Having said all that, the attacking part of our game was not the issue yesterday...it was quite obviously the defending, or lack of it!

They were on the wrong sides to encourage them to cut in and shoot rather than get wide and cross. Defoe would have been the only man in there, maybe Modric, and neither of them are going to win headers.

I agree that neither of them would win headers, but how often are the crosses from Lennon and Bale's runs to the byline high ones? The majority are drilled low across the face of the goal...suited very much to poachers like Defoe.

Whether Lennon at LM and Bale at RM worked is irrelevant. We lost because of bad defending, not Lennon at LM and Bale RM.
Both still got past their full backs, crossed and created chances, and another day we could have been more than 3 goals we scored.

How many balls has Bale whipped in for headers? Not that many…. How many has be drilled in for someone to slide in/ tap in?....... Quite a few.

I though they done alright on their wrong sides but once Wolves got together with this they were looked to get them on their weaker side after a few minutes.

I thought for Bales chance, if it has been on his natural side or if it would have been Lennon he would have noticed Defoe free.

Firstly ,Bale and Lennon have got shots on their unfavoured foot . AL has a nice low one to the near post..I keep wanting him to cut in when in his RW position because the defender won't expect it . When he's done this in the past an air of panic often descends on the defence .

The other point from above is that frequently our goals from wide are not headed ,they are low crosses ,so GB and AL can be very effective without a big centreforward .

Play them on their 'wrong' wings by all means , but switch them back and forth ,keep the defenders guessing ...wish that had happened a bit yesterday.

It should be pointed out however , that we did come close to scoring yesterday with the team set up like this .
