I agree (regrettably) with what Durham said on TalkSport today. Bale is a very good player, but in the company of the very best he comes up short in terms of technique and mentality. I think Real fans were thinking (understandably, considering the hype and the price tag) they were getting the next big superstar who would step into Ronaldo's shoes, but are now discovering that our Gareth just isn't all that.
He will come back to England eventually, but it won't be soon- no one's going to pay anything close to what Real laid out, and they're going to be reluctant to take a really big hit. Man Utd are going to miss out on CL anyway. I think City is his most likely destination, maybe after a year or so of warming his arse cheeks on the bench at the Bernabau.

His just lost his confidence and work rate, if you work your nuts off fans love you, I always hate it when players like Bentley things don't go well so you stop working hard for the team/ it shows up your lack of work rate. If your playing bad pull your socks up run more, work harder, fight harder try even more to win balls and fans will appreciate you for it and you have more chances of turning things around.

Despite Perez, Ancelotti and Bale categorically saying that won't happen... He won't be going anywhere for the foreseeable future.

Yup. Because that's gospel.

If Bale doesn't turn this around quickly, the fans will make his position at the club untenable. Once that happens, he will only go to one league and only one of two clubs.

I don't think he'll come back but if he thought about it, looking at Kane, Eriksen and the rest of our young team, he might fancy his chances of getting back to his best. I don't buy it that he couldn't work in a Poch team, Bale has more natural stamina than almost every player in the world. It's a shame It's just a dream that I can only live out in my 'should have been XI' in FIFA career mode.

He does, but he's pretty lazy. Even for us, he wasn't tracking back or helping out defensively. I get the impression Poch favours the collective over the individual, so can't see him being very impressed!

I'm not sure he was lazy, maybe it was more that the team was built around his forward threat and he was told to find space and play in a certain way? Maybe not but I remember plenty of instances where he busted a gut to get back and defend.

With Poch the emphasis seems to be on team play and hard work, I think Bale would be absolutely fine if by some miracle he came back, I also think he'd be the best player in the league and could have us competing for 2nd* or 3rd with a strong base to push on over the following years.

*This assumes that we have a reasonably well functioning defence by next season.

edit- for the record I don't even think he will leave Madrid this summer, selling him would be crazy, even by their standards. I could see Ronaldo leaving before Bale does.

And the press desperately trying to flog him to Man Utd is?

Yep.

Bale won't join United this Summer. The story's been driven by the shitty newspapers who want to see him in English football again. That's it.

Yes, there's a small select group of fans who may want to sell him. But I'd ignore those comments from Madrid forums in this thread- they are no different to the knee-jerk comments we see on here.

No team in England will offer him 300k/week. If he's made up his mind coming back to the EPL, and Levy pays him in the region of 120-130k/week. I think he would come back to us rather than say another 40k/week at Manure or Chelscum; as after tax the difference is certainly not big enough to incur the wrath and curses of the Yid Army.
Even though UTD have the biggest fan base in the world? I think he could manage the wrath from us to be honest.

I never said it was, I think he has equally as much of a chance of going to City.

I think IF he leaves Real Madrid, there are only two options for him. If you don't agree, fair enough. But he can't go on at Madrid like this much longer.

The president who spent £80m+ and the manager trying to boost his confidence says nothing about his future. If he's still getting caned by the end of the year and Real have won nothing, Perez may have to look to recoup.

As mad as it sounds he wouldn't fit our high pressing game, so its a no from me :woot:

I agree, I think he could very very easily if he buys in to the whole poch and team thing at spurs, but I think he has been and done it at spurs and will never be back. He will go where the money is good and to a big name like Man United, City or Chelsea. The question is will he regain his spurs form and hunger ? I think he will, and could end up a really good bargain for someone at 80-100milion

Interestingly, before this infamous spell of 8 resultless matches, he was actually doing quite well. The stats in the article show that he is shooting less, but more often on target, his successful pass % is slightly higher and he had, before this spell, lower amount of goals per minute. It's a hard world.
