I was actually thinking earlier it would be fascinating to watch a Conte Spurs 11 vs an Ange Spurs 11.

I know who I'd be supporting.
Kane and Son Conte edition would feast on the break tbf. They’d score a hatful. Maybe even 5 given how open we’ve been. Hard to beat that.

Final result: 9-6 Ange XI

Yeah it's actually a pretty nasty match-up for Ange. Could see it being a bit of a Spurs vs City style affair.

What a performance from Big Dav Sanchez!
It was a friendly, pinch of salt etc etc BUT, he was the only defender tonight who looked like he might actually fit the system as a defender.

Comfortable passing the ball out of defense, strength and pace to track back. Compared to Dier, Regi and Porro - I thought he kept us in it at times tonight.

Not saying we can't do better and agree with others that he's always had the odd match where he shines, but maybe he suits this way of playing?

He's similar to how he's always been, but without that straight line speed he used to have. I never rated him as a midfielder.
I thought that role suited him perfectly at the time, I also thought he’d end up being a class cb rather than midfielder as time went on, sadly he’s ended up neither

I felt our play suffered with Dier as he didn't have the natural midfield inclination to show for the ball. I think he was mostly propped up by Mousa Dembele's renaissance, and when Wanyama arrived he was the far better player.

At CB he's never seemed to be able to cut out the errors you think he would through experience, and I think some of the injuries/physical problems have slowed him down to leave him even more exposed. He was never agile but was always quick over medium to long distance, that's gone now.

On the first bit I don’t think our play suffered as such personally but we played a different way.

second bit agree completely

Don't think you can blame Vicario for any of the goals really, had a solid performance overall.

Sanchez was brilliant, arguably MOTM with Bissouma for me. Such a shame he's so inconsistent, plays a blinder against Barca the likely to have a shocker if he were to start against Brentford. He has all the attributes, don't think i've ever seen such an inconsistent player though.

Bissouma was was excellent, brilliant footwork to get out of tight spaces and progress the ball forward, hope he stays fit he'll have a amazing season.

Lo Celso was solid again.

Skipp great at making those late runs into the box, rewarded with 2 goals, huge energy, limited technically, not sure why we are looking at Gallagher for £40m when Skipp is basically the same player.

Reggie is just not good enough unfortunately, I love his personality and effort but it's not going to work, Porro also I don't think will work as a RB. Typical Tottenham recruitment, had Emerson (A RB) playing RWB for a whole season under Conte and getting pelters because he's not a RWB, then finally sign a good RWB in Porro in january only to sack the manager that plays wing backs and hire a new manager that plays 4 at the back.. Think Porro would be better suited playing as a RWF.

Overall a very good performance, shame about the result but with VDV in there with his pace to get back and another CB option we potentially will be in a really good place.

People saying sell Dier, but seriously who would want him?
I believe Dier would do well in plenty of champions league teams, just not English ones.
He could easily go do well in Portugal, France or Italy.
I think going to another premier league team would really see his career nose-dive.

We're doing an awful lot of rewriting history with Dier. Was great for us in Poch's first few seasons in cm and as part of a back three. He was really really good.

The appendicitis and subsequent health issues have just seemed to stop him ever getting back into the kind of shape he really needs to be in to really excel at centre back.

Spot on, start of last season he looked a lot fitter than he had in years and started well too, but he looks to have bulked up a bit more again. I wonder if it's medication related like Ronaldo's fluctuating weight problems were.

Davinson was outstanding, probably MOM, Porro was poor defensively but improved in the second half.

Clear drop when we subbed the likes of Bissouma, Skipp and Peresic.

Maybe keeping Davinson as the 4th choice CB is not such a bad idea, he has the pace to play the role at the least.

Bissouma and Peresic should be first team imo.

Good performance if you take out the first and last 10 minutes.
Think Peresic is going to be a great bench option. Don't think he has the legs for the PL week in and week out. Agree with rest.

Only saw the highlights.

Keeper looked good. Exposed for 4 goals, but made saves he needed to and got out to head the ball and recover the attempted chip. Gets involved.

Interesting to see how Lo Celso and Bissouma get on this season. I reckon Bissouma will be a regular and focal point. Intrigued if Lo Celso can take control of a starting 11 spot.

Porro and Reguilon have work to do and I'm not sure it'll work out for them. Reguilon looks too easy to get passed and a bit scattered in possession. Porro's positioning and off-the-ball play just looks all over the place. I doubt he'll play much if that continues.

If the big concern coming out of this is Reguilon and Dier, hardly a lot to be worried about. Reggy is likely to be sold and I highly doubt Dier gets more than a handful of cup games this season and then his contract expires.
that's why we got knocked out from the domestic cups quickly

Considering for an hour pretty much our second choice 11 outplayed pretty much Barcelona’s first 11 ( who’d beaten RM 3-0) I’d say I was very impressed with what Ange has achieved with this squad in such a short period of time. Bissoumo, Perisic, Lo Celso and Sanchez were all very good and Solomon was decent. Last 15 minutes tiredness set in and Barca’s young starlets came on and ran us ragged. A good game.

I do think it could be a challenge with the second string’s fitness. Without European games, and with such a big squad, if we ever need to call on the likes of Dier, Reguilon, without match fitness, it’s not going to be pretty.
Unlike our last 4 managers Postecoglo makes a lot of substitutions and makes them early so most players should get decent minutes.

We paid the price for modernizing the way we play, with the CBs pushing higher up and leaving gaps that got regularly exploited.
I hope we learn from this.
As it is, this is not a PL level defence.
