Not sure Barkley could come anywhere near defensive contribution Dembele offers.

At this point, that's true, but I think he could be trained into an excellent CM with (IMO) probably a greater threat in the final third than Dembele.

Don't get me wrong, Mouse is amazing and arguably a level above Barkley at present, but Barkley is young, could improve and would offer something a bit different

Barkley will not leave Everton and I doubt they'll sell to rival.

I get the impression we're being used for an increase in wages for Barkley.
