Good on him, I doubt he would have ever made it at spurs but he seemed to be an awesome finisher and never given much of a chance in the first team.

good luck to him

nice to see young players who dont quite make it at Spurs go on and make a success of themselves

Such a shame that after his first team debut for us he spent most of the following season out with an ankle injury. Really pleased it's working out for him at Southend.

well done Barney - I always liked him - and thought he could have done a job as 4th striker - but alas it wasn't to be

One of the guys on COYS said that

Although scoring, acording to my girlfriends brother (a season ticket holder) he misses more than he scores.

Maybe once he finds his shooting boots he will bang even more in Eek

well I've never known a forward who didn't miss more than he scored - so that's not much of a criticism :) even the great Greavesie probably only scored 1 in 3 chances - if that

I wonder if we'd have let him go if we'd known 'arry would come in with a late offer for Defoe.

My Southend supporting mate, though he's not complaining, say's he can see why Barney never made our first team. Said he is a donkey with a great eye for goal.

Good on the lad. He's a natural born finisher but never had the all round game for the top level. He'll be a player that will always do well though in the lower leagues I imagine. And, you never know, as he grows in experience maybe he will make it one day... maybe...
