Craig Bellamy has been banned from Manchester City and black-listed as one of their players in a show of authority from the club's manager, Roberto Mancini. Bellamy has been told he will not be welcome at City's practice ground when the players resume training tomorrow and ordered to stay away until a deal has been arranged to find him a new club.

It follows several clashes with Mancini and other senior employees over the past few days. Bellamy has been outraged by the way City have marginalised him and has made his feelings clear to the manager and other players. He was told to train with the reserves on Friday but his attitude was perceived to be so "disruptive" the club have told him he is no longer welcome.

An angry Bellamy has returned to Wales to be with his family and is expected to train with Cardiff City tomorrow.

Cardiff have contacted City to ascertain their position and are hoping to capitalise on Bellamy's desire to play for his hometown club by persuading him to take a pay cut on a loan agreement. However, reports of a deal being imminent are premature, with City turning down a request from the Championship club to pay part of Bellamy's £95,000-a-week salary.

City would prefer to sell the 31-year-old but are reluctant to do business with Tottenham Hotspur, confirmed admirers of Bellamy, because they regard Harry Redknapp's team as competitors for the Champions League places. Celtic and Sunderland are interested while Mark Hughes, the former City manager, is trying to sign Bellamy for Fulham plus two more players from his previous club, Roque Santa Cruz and Shay Given.

Several other clubs are understood not to be deterred by the rancorous split and Bellamy's apparent inability to avoid confrontation with authority.

Bellamy's CV, including spells at Liverpool, Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers, has become synonymous with controversy and his eight months under Mancini have been rife with tension and mutual suspicion.

The tone of their relationship was set within Mancini's first weeks as manager when they had an argument about the player wanting an individually tailored training programme.Bellamy was also the subject of an internal investigation into comments in the players' tunnel after Mancini had clashed with David Moyes during the 2-0 home defeat to Everton in March. Someone was overheard shouting something offensive towards Mancini. Bellamy denied it was him and, with noise in the tunnel making it hard to gather evidence, the club decided not to reprimand him.

But Mancini was said to find it "disrespectful and unprofessional" when Bellamy, walking off the pitch after the 1-0 defeat to Tottenham that ended City's hopes of reaching the Champions League, high-fived Redknapp. Then, last week, Bellamy accused Mancini of not speaking to him for six months, an allegation that was strenuously denied.

City's directors initially planned to fine Bellamy but instead, on Mancini's recommendation, they have decided to make him persona non grata and effectively wash their hands of him.

Haven't seen this in any other thread, felt it deserved one of it's own anyway.

That is disgusting behaviour by City if true, and surely it works in our favour as he can definately claim restrict o trade against City. He was brilliant for them last season, and for Mancini to treat him like this is beyond belief. He worked so hard and gave his all, I never used to like him but I do feel really sorry for him.

Also, I know you can only be registered for two teams, but as Man City are leaving him out of the 25, if he signed for Cardiff, for example, and then for us in January, would we be his second or third team of the season?

Third because he is still a 'registered' Man City player.

We'd have to apply for special dispensation and I doubt we'd get it.

This was all predicted before he went to Citeh. And if he comes here, something similar within his first year will happen.

I don't know if trouble follows him around or he follows trouble but either way, he's bad news.

I don't get how you think this bad news is his fault.

He wants to leave, understandably seeing his club have spent a fortune on new players. But his club are telling him where he can't go..

It's obvious he wants to come to Spurs, and that we want him too, but City are fucking him around.

Just the kind of player we could do with in the changing room.

He may want to leave but he signed a contract and he should fulfill it.

He's on sale to every single club except ours (which is fair enough given the push for positions) Like most footballers he should take the situation like a decent human being but no, he resorts back to plan A which is usually confronting people with a horrific display of violence including verbals. The stories came out when he wanted out at West Ham were horrifying. And all because after a great spell at West Ham, he heard Spurs and Citeh were interested. And don't forget how this came about. He has had numerous fights with Mancini (even as early as Xmas last year whilst getting plenty of oppotunities to play) and senior brass and understandably, they don't want his presence to infect the club.

Even if he does come here. What if he doesn't get enough games? What if he wants to end up Cardiff? You want him around the ground while Levy holds out for £3m more than we paid for him?

He's a cancer on football i'd be extremely nervous from the time he comes to the time he leaves. Just praying he leaves our club as intact as he found it.

Yes we need tough, battling players. Thugs? No.

Interesting stance by City, will be interesting to see going forward whether it affects some players decisions in signing for them.

You can sign for us but if you ever want to leave we'll fuck you up, might not be to attractive a policy to some prospective signings.

As much as he had a great season last year, I don't understand why everyone seems to be in favour of us signing the guy. He causes more problems everywhere he goes, is it worth the risk? He seems to have one good season at every club, then decides he has a problem somewhere and causes untold issues. Where does he fit in to our team? He isn't going to just sit on the bench quietly!

I Don't think this is Bellamys fault really,

Bellamy was one of City's best players last season, you'd think one of the first names on the team sheet, but No he is singled out as surplus to requirements.

The signings of Silva & Balotelli show he is now not needed.

Normnally when a player is not needed, he'll go to the highest bidder, but this is where City have changed everything, they don't need money thus can dictate who they deal with.

I foresee major problems for city in the future with this hard-ball stance.
players brought for huge fee's & high wages, suddenly not needed and cannot freely move on.

Bellamy could EASILY sit on the bench, or even sit out football for 6 months if he is not named in 25 man squad & collect his wages but he wants to play football, he wants to play football at the highest possible standard, but City won't allow him.

I think this may come down to him buying out his contract or a re-union with Hughes.

players like Lescott, Given, De Jong, Barry, SWP, Ireland etc will find out in the coming seasons how hard it is to leave city & play at a top club.

It'll be interesting to see how this turns out with rumours of Given in discussions with Arsenal...

As nice as it would be to see Arse fall flat on their face for a 6th season running, I find myself wanting to see City fail more, and I actually wouldn't mind if Given went to the Arse, because he is one of the best keepers in the league, and deserves a chance at a real top club. Not a club who acts like one.

What are the rules on players buying out their contracts? Has anyone in the PL actually done so?
