Yeah let's bring in MORE foreigners so the language gap on the pitch can be even wider..

Half the English players in the Premiership can't string 2 words together, so you can't just blame Johnny Foreigner for a language gap ..............

Stalteri probably speaks French too though, being Canadian. Shift Chimbonda to CB, while Dervitte is injured, Stalteri RB and Tainio and Zokora to fight it out for LB in Ekotto's absence.

I think Salty more likely speaks his native Italian than French. Nobody ouside quebec really takes French seriously. When my son was in Junior school, he had to take French; but enen I, who had only a year and a half of French lessons (twice a week) in 1961, could tell that what he was learning was Canabefrench.

Wow... that is not true at all. According to the 2001 census, only 10% of Canadians from outside Quebec can speak French.

I stand corrected  But they must learn some form of language at school, and I imagined it would be french as many in their own country speak it. Being bordered only really by America you would have thought they needed a language other than English to study.

Still, I suppose that they have their pick of them given that they are a long distance from anywhere - Spanish, Chinese, Russian...

My english professor was Irish and he said that the Basque language was Celtic in origin.

Not quite true, basque as a language is 'isolate' which means it has no apparent connections to any other nearby languages, none of the other Indo-european languages like romance, celtic, slavic, germanic.

The basque culture does have does seem to have some cultural links to celtic culture though some basques believe their culture is evn older than celtic times.

It's pretty interesting if you wanna have a look into it, but shouldn't we be talking about football???
