SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!

Not surprised at this - if I was Benitez, I'd take it. £100k+ p/w in salary, massive transfer spending ability, chance to win something and, if he does that, a two/three year contract from which he'll be sacked after 6months and get a nice £10m cheque for sitting on his arse.

They obviously ignored my application!!

Best of what's available and I'm quite happy to see him back in the PL. Probably bad news for the rest of us as he is more clued up than their last manager.

we have a manager who massively over performed with a hugely average side that had absolutely no chance of winning the European cup. better sack him and get in a manager that did exactly the same thing in 2005.

Also Scientists believe that by the year 2024, wherever you may be, you will be standing within 5 feet of an ex-Chelsea manager

Sometimes journo's come up with such bollocks:

"Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague on 5 live Sport: "Rafael Benitez has said no to many, many people, national teams and clubs. Now this is his chance to show the world, the English public and the Chelsea fans what he can do. He has met with Chelsea three times and he almost reached an agreement. Now Chelsea have come back, and that means they have faith in what he can do. It's good timing for both parties, and I think many people will change their minds when he shows what he can do.""

Chelsea have faith in what he can do?!? Yet only gives him an interim contract until end of the season. Nothing to do with Guardiola self-imposed gardening leave ending then or, maybe, Abramovich's hope to tempt Mourinho. Faith, what faith?

Also, we know what he can do. He's a tactically astute manager who is crazy! Can't wait for the slanging match between him and Utd to start up.

And what can he show "the English public" what he couldn't show in the many years he managed Liverpool?!

Such bollocks

He might be able to get Torres firing again, all the best to him but I hope he ultimately fails in this position.

About the best appointment they could hope for.

PL/Champs League and big player experience.

Interested to see how he treats Terry, who seems to be almost running that club at this stage. No longer the player he was either.

And I thought some of our fans didn't want AVB, but this is priceless:

'Chair of the Chelsea Supporters Group, Trizia Fiorellino, on 5 live Sport: "I am gobsmacked. Chelsea pulled the rug from under Roberto Di Matteo, which was just ludicrous. Now they have got in someone of Benitez's calibre, who is a poor manager. Nobody has wanted to employ him for two years. What does that tell you? In England he won two things, both on penalties. Di Matteo did that in 20-odd games, it didn't take four years. Benitez has a propensity for zonal marking, which doesn't work in the Premier League. He is the wrong choice for Chelsea and the fans do not want him." '

Nigel Spackman has actually said that maybe Benitez got the job to "to bring the best out of Torres". So Chelscum may have hired a manager for the benefit of ONE player. I would love that to be true; it would sum the club up perfectly.

Fuck. If we were actually a competent team ourselves I'd fancy us to finish above them again this season. And they'll be no CL fluke get out this team either.
