It should be noted that Bent scored Sunday as a result of an early'ish, top notch cross from a deeper position. He saw the ball, he made a very good run across his marker and scored a good goal. How often do we do that as a team?

It could be argued that Benty is more limited than Keano and Berbo, which he is, and that he will therefore struggle to adapt to our style of play. But, it could also be said that we as a team are quite limited, the PSV game for example, and that we have a weapon up front and need to learn to utilise him more.

Certainly we do not vary our attack enough and if we could learn to do that, especially when we are under pressure, we would be a better team for it.

The fact is that Bent will score goals if given the right service, all of this nonsense about him being a poor player is just that, he can still have a future at spurs and I hope he does. It is not all about pretty passing, sometimes you need to be a bit more direct and Bent can do that for us.
