I've always liked this kid - remember the cross to Kane for the gunners game? Plus he usually does what Dier does fairly well. Its a shame that he doesn't seem to be breaking into Poch's first team squad. The start of the season and that international injury seems to have set him back.

Get well soon Nabil

So perhaps this is what's been going on behind the scenes - a niggling injury they were all hoping he could play through and it's become clear he can't.

Hopefully you'll be 100% fit both physically and mentally for pre-season, Nabil.

I like him too. He is well suited to the Poch high energy press, and in the world cup he was brill for Alg. Hasn't looked as good this season, as many have pointed out already, but with the op, and some rest and then full pre-season maybe he can fulfil the potential I thought he had.
Or maybe Poch won't give him that option. Fascinating to see Poch's decisions on transfers. he is so well established now and can do what he wants knowing he will get the support from DL.
All exciting for the club, and for NB, I think he will have a good career. If not for us then elsewhere. He'll be fine.

Agree with all of that apart from 'he usually does what Dier does fairly well'. IMO he doesn't defend, communicate or organize anything remotely close to what Dier does. Everything else is fine though.

Yes he's become Dier's back up. Not as careful with the ball or as good in the air but still a decent defensive midfielder and still young. Hope he's back in the mix soon and this is the reason we've not seen much of him rather than any falling out with Poch.

Actually fair enough - he's more a back up to Dembele than Dier - but doesn't have the physical presence yet. Much better at quickness of ball rotation and forward passing. Has a decent shot and can move pretty quickly up field. Rate him pretty highly

I hope he's back in the mix soon as well, but not standing in for Dier. To me, he simply doesn't have a defensive mindset at all in that his reaction to defensive situations is poor, he doesn't read the game well enough, he doesn't see what's going on around him very well, he doesn't mark well at set pieces of track runners. I also don't think he's very brave at tackling or blocking. Offensively he's fine but we were like an open door through the middle last season as our goal difference then and now shows.
