He's an OK player.
To be honest, if he thinks he can do better than us I'd support his decision and wish him good luck.

Ok? He's one of the best players of his age group in world football and a starter in the Premier League. I think people sometimes that forget he's younger than Pritchard and will only get better.

i think thats the point, we dont know what he or his agent is asking for but however much it is, i wish theyd keep it between themselves and the Club.

I don't like to see it in public either but I can't see him asking for anything like 100k, we rely on him though so he has a right to ask for parity with players like Dembele and Paulinho.

If his contract talks have been ongoing for the last 9 months no wonder he feels upset, particularly when taking into consideration he's been one of our key players this past season and we certainly missed him during the time he was off at the African Nations cup at the beginning of the year.
Like others before me have suggested he needs to be on a parity with other midfielders around him, notwithstanding his tender years
He doesn't strike me as another greedy footballler, just a young man who knows his value and wants to be paid accordingly.

If I was Levy then Nabil, Harry and Ryan will all have received new contracts this summer as a reward for their imrpvoement. I would give them all a decent wage too.

We shouldn't be holding our failures in the transfer market against him.

Just sell the fuckers who earn more than they are worth, and stop making such poor transfers.

I understand the fiscal need for Levy to be careful when handing out new contracts. However there is an upside to us generously rewarding our homegrown players: It will attract young talent to the club. If you're youth player and you can see the evidence that
a) we promote youth into the side (no arguments there we show this
and
b) that if they do well early on, they get financially rewarded for it.

I can't imagine that wouldn't be a attractive for any youngster that is looking to become a pro.

He must be glad that he didn't agree a contract 9 months ago. I'm pretty sure he's worth a lot more now than he was then.

Having said that, what do we actually know about it? Just seems odd that a young guy with 1.5 decent seasons under his belt who is a regular starter for a top club is making such a song and dance about it already.

Presumably it's the agent. Only reason I can think of why he'd go public

Keep it private ffs. I have no problem with him negotiating hard for the best deal he can get. But the stuff he is quoted as saying is tasteless. Distinct flavour of using the media to pressurise the club. Just get your head down and continue to improve as a player. Let your agent do the contract haggling in PRIVATE.

You wonder how many of these new contract every good year players come in for a new (reduced) deal when they've had a shit year...

I think maybe I missed something with Bentaleb. Can someone tell me what he actually did all season?

Honest question. Assists? Goals? I can't remember any.

I hope this is just his agent making noise. Really like the lad and hope he stays. I don't want to get screwed but he deserves a rise of some sort. Really don't want Capoue taking his place.
