I've read the statement on the official site.

Juande says:

"As I said on Thursday, I needed to wait and speak to the player when he returned from international duty and then make a decision about whether or not he was right to play in this game. I have not selected him as I do not think that he is focused enough and I do not feel that he will be good for the dressing room and the team effort.

"It doesn't matter how good a player is, if he is not in the right frame of mind, then he will not perform well. The only thing I concern myself with is picking the best team to try and win the game.

"I shall talk to the player tomorrow, he is our player and we shall work with him at training."

It's a pretty depressing read. It looks like Berba is on his way out. Even if he stays, it sounds like he really doesn't want to be there, to the extent where his presence is actually harming the team. I'm quite shocked that Ramos is so open about the fact that Berbatov is having a negative effect on the dressing room.

It all reminds me of the Martin Jol fiasco. It's really pretty shambolic and it's a shame, because I've thought that post-Jol the board have handled things pretty well, but this is an issue we really needed to get sorted before the season started. Either Berbatov should have been sold or he should stay. If it's been clear for some time that Man Utd aren't going to stump up the cash for him, then the board should have made it very clear that he's staying. We're now a week into the new season, with a week to go before the close of the transfer window and we're still dicking around like this. If he leaves now, we've got a week to find replacement strikers.

I just wish Utd would stump up the cash and lets us all move on. Shows their lack of class really.
