both top class but (i know i will be bashed for this) berbs hasn't played in a team with the same quality as torres so purely statistical comparison is useless. just imagine berbs in a team with top class midfield and next to a top class striker - it would be a different story.

another point - will torres ever be able to win the golden ball? do players like him or drogba win it? no, because it's not a joy to watch them on the pitch, they are just effective ... not the story with berba.

Exactly.

The two are complementary and not comparable. Torres is more of a main striker and Berbatov plays best in the hole. My favourite player of the two is the Bulgarian. In terms of pure football talent there is nobody better in the Premiership.

I am not to debate if Torres will win it or not, but I can name you attacking players who have won it and were/are not by any means more exciting to watch. Papin and Owen are two examples.

Berbatov pisses over Torres. If he had the service that Torres gets, he'd be scoring 100 a season.

Don't see this as a logical comparison.
Berbatov is not our primary goalscorer (Keane is), he is as much of a creator.
Torres is Liverpool's primary goalscorer and, while he can create chances for himself, does not AFAIK get anywhere near Berbatov's assist rates.

In a way I think those two together would be an ideal partnership.

If I had to choose one, it would be Berbatov.

It's interesting that whilst Torres seems to blaze a fair few wide or over the bar, if he's on target he puts about one in two away.

On the other hand, so does Keane. And Bent, come to that.

My son asked me the same question last night and i repeat what i said then and it has to be Berbatov. His all round play is superior to Torres, and whilst the latter appears to be a better finisher, he is also playing in a better team. You would have to ask yourselves whether he would be as "hot" playing for spurs?

I remember when we signed Berbatov, Jol said that we were looking at Torres and Berbatov but opted for Berba. In my opinion it was the right choice. The only shame of it is that when Spurs buy players of that quality we get muppets like ManUre turning their heads. The quicker we raise the quality bar in the rest of the team the better.

Torres is more direct but Berba has better awareness.

Both are 20 goals+ strikers. Both are world-class with different styles.

How many they score depend on the rest of their team so this kind of thread begs the question 'why should berba stay at spurs'. We all know that Berba will score for fun at ManU, Arse and Chelsea.

Both are average finishers. Torres misses chance after chance, bit like Rooney. Great player though with searing pace.

Berbs pisses it all day long, by far the more accomplished footballer. If Berbs played for Pool (and could be bothered), he would already have 20 goals this season.

berbatov is a magician, what he does with the ball memsmorises me.
thats the kind of player i want in a spurs shirt, he can be the player i tell the next generation about, like my dad told me about hoddle etc.
torres is quality, but both are incomparable imo.

i do agree that in a better team berbs would score more goals.

Torres is class, but I like Berbs better--I think he is a better technical player and much more creative. And that soft touch...[shudders]...Torres is explosive and powerful and those are great things to be, but Berbs is as good a scorer and beats him in the style department--love that stuff. :)

Big difference in styles. I would pay (and do) to see Berbatov play, as he is a forward that creates. I wouldn't pay to watch Torres who simply sprints and shoots.

Both great players, but you may as well compare Hoddle and MacKay
